CSIR is hiring 1 Chairperson for the Recruitment and Assessment Board (RAB) on a full-time contract basis. Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, has issued Advertisement No. 02/2026 for the post of Chairperson, CSIR-Recruitment and Assessment Board. The RAB handles recruitment, assessment and promotion of CSIR scientists in Group IV positions and recruitment of senior technical posts across CSIR laboratories. This is a senior leadership role for someone who has already led research, policy, programme management or scientist development work.

Who Can Apply?

• Current profile: You should be a retired eminent Scientist, Technologist or Technocrat.

Age Limit

• Maximum age at application stage: Not above 67 years.
• Tenure age cap: Appointment is for 3 years or up to 70 years of age, whichever is earlier.
• Extension: In exceptional circumstances, the term may be extended by another 3 years or up to 70 years of age, whichever is earlier.

Salary

• Pay level: Pay Level-16 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.
• Monthly pay range: Rs. 2,05,400 to Rs. 2,24,400.
• Allowances: Admissible allowances will apply as per rules.
• Alternative pay option: Consolidated pay may be recommended by the Search-cum-Selection Committee.

Selection Process
