DIAT Project Assistant Recruitment 2026 — 1 Post
Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), a Deemed University under the Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India, is looking for a young scientist or engineer to work on an institute-level research project titled "Deep Learning Assisted Hyperspectral Image Analysis of Carbon Quantum Dot for Sensing Applications" in the Department of Applied Physics. This is a temporary, project-based position for up to 2 years (or co-terminus with the project, whichever is earlier). The position does not guarantee any absorption into DIAT's permanent cadre.

Essential Qualification
- M.Sc. in Physics / Applied Physics / Photonics / Electronics from a recognised university
- OR M.Tech in any discipline from a recognised university
Desirable Experience
- Working knowledge, project experience, or industry experience in Image Processing techniques
- Experience with Deep Learning methods
- Experience with Optical Instrumentation
Note: Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee shortlisting. Candidates with higher qualifications and relevant experience will be preferred.
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 28 years as on 22 April 2026
- SC / ST / Women / PwD: Age relaxation of up to 5 years (maximum 33 years)
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / EBW: Age relaxation of 3 years (maximum 31 years)
Stipend
- You will receive a consolidated monthly stipend of Rs. 25,000 per month
- Medical facilities (MI Room facilities) will be provided to the selected candidate
- Note: This is a consolidated stipend, not a regular pay-scale salary
Selection Process
Selection will be done in 2 stages:
- Screening: Based on qualifications and relevant experience. A Screening Committee may shortlist candidates for the interview. Only shortlisted candidates will be individually informed via email.
- Interview: Conducted in-person or via video conferencing (mode decided by DIAT). No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

Responsibilities
- Work on the research project titled "Deep Learning Assisted Hyperspectral Image Analysis of Carbon Quantum Dot for Sensing Applications"
- Assist in designing and conducting experiments related to hyperspectral image analysis and optical instrumentation
- Apply deep learning techniques to image data collected from Carbon Quantum Dot sensing systems
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and research records as required by the Principal Investigator
- Maintain laboratory instruments and equipment under the guidance of the PI
- Support data collection, processing, and analysis activities throughout the project duration
- Assist in writing research papers and presenting findings at seminars or conferences if required
