The Goa Public Service Commission (Goa PSC) has released notification number 05 of 2026 for filling up 6 mental health professional posts at the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB), Bambolim, under the Public Health Department, Government of Goa. Knowledge of Konkani is essential for both posts. Selection is done by the Commission through screening and interview.

• Psychiatrist: 4 posts (3 General + 1 OBC-NCL)
• Clinical Psychologist: 2 posts (1 General + 1 OBC-NCL)

Who Can Apply?

For Psychiatrist (4 posts - Pay Level 10)

• You must have a recognised medical qualification listed in the First, Second or Part II of the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
• You must have a Post-Graduate Degree or Diploma in Psychiatry recognised by the Medical Council of India or equivalent.
• You must have at least 2 years experience in Psychiatry as a Junior Resident.
• Knowledge of Konkani is essential. Knowledge of Marathi is desirable.

For Clinical Psychologist (2 posts - Pay Level 11)

• You must have a Master's Degree in Psychology from a recognised university or equivalent.
• You must have an M.Phil in Clinical Psychology or a 2-year Diploma in Medical and Social Psychology from a recognised university/institution.
• You must have 2 years of work experience in Psychology / Clinical Psychology / Medical and Social Psychology including psychological testing and counselling.
• Knowledge of Konkani is essential. Doctorate in the field and Marathi knowledge are desirable.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 45 years as on the last date of application.
• Age relaxation will be given to SC / ST / OBC / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen as per Goa Government rules.

Salary

• Psychiatrist: Pay Matrix Level 10 (Rs. 56,100 - Rs. 1,77,500 per month) plus NPA
• Clinical Psychologist: Pay Matrix Level 11 (Rs. 67,700 - Rs. 2,08,700 per month)
• You will also get DA, HRA, Transport Allowance and other allowances as per Goa Government rules.

Selection Process

Selection is done by Goa Public Service Commission in the following stages:

1. Online Application Screening: The Commission will check eligibility and shortlist candidates as per criteria.
2. Screening Test (if required): Held to shortlist candidates if applications are large in number.
3. Interview: Personal interview by Goa PSC for shortlisted candidates.
4. Document Verification: Original certificates checked before final appointment.

• Take part in community mental health programmes across Goa
• Train junior doctors, nursing staff, and paramedical workers in mental health care
• Conduct research and publish papers in psychiatry and clinical psychology journals
• Help with hospital committees and administrative duties as assigned
