Gujarat Vidyapith (Deemed-to-be-University) Finance Officer Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Gujarat Vidyapith, founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1920 and a Deemed-to-be-University since 1963, has released Employment Notification No. 01/2026-27 for the post of Finance Officer. The university is looking for a qualified, accomplished, and committed Finance Officer who believes in institution-building. Selection is purely on the basis of academic record, experience and interview — there is no written exam. The appointment is on a tenure basis of 5 years or up to age 62 (whichever is earlier) with the option for reappointment.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

• You must have a Master's Degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade where grading is followed).
• You must have at least 15 years of experience as Assistant Professor in Academic Level 11 and above, or 8 years of service in Academic Level 12 and above (including as Associate Professor) along with experience in educational administration.
• Or comparable experience in a research establishment or institution of higher education.
• Or 15 years of administrative experience, of which 8 years shall be as Deputy Registrar or an equivalent post.

Desirable

• MBA (Finance) / M.Com / CA / ICWA.

Other Requirements

• Knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi is a basic requirement (medium of instruction is generally Gujarati).
• Candidates already in service must submit a NOC from their employer.
• You must have good mental and bodily health.

Age Limit

• Age: Preferably below 57 years as on the last date of application.
• Tenure of appointment: 5 years or up to superannuation at 62 years, whichever is earlier.
• Eligible for reappointment after due selection process.

Salary

• Selected candidate will get a salary as per Pay Matrix Level 14 (Rs. 1,44,200 - Rs. 2,18,200 per month).
• You will also get DA, HRA, Transport Allowance and other allowances as per UGC / Government of India norms.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is purely on the basis of:

1. Application Screening: Screening Committee will shortlist candidates as per qualification and experience.
2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will present original certificates for verification.
3. Interview: Final selection is based on overall academic record, experience, and performance in the interview by the Selection Committee.

If three minimum eligible applicants are not available for the vacancy, the post will be re-advertised. Outstation SC/ST/PwBD candidates will be reimbursed to-and-fro rail fare (sleeper class) by the shortest route.

• Oversee all financial matters of Gujarat Vidyapith (Deemed-to-be-University)
• Prepare annual budgets, financial statements, and audit reports
• Manage fund flow, investments, and treasury operations of the university
• Ensure compliance with UGC, Government of India, and tax regulations
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors and reply to audit queries
• Maintain books of accounts and financial records as per university and CCS rules
• Advise the Vice-Chancellor and Executive Council on financial policies and decisions
• Help with financial planning for new academic and infrastructure projects
