Hooghly Cochin Shipyard Limited (HCSL) Medical Officer Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Hooghly Cochin Shipyard Limited (Hooghly CSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) and a Miniratna Schedule 'A' company under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, is looking for a Medical Officer on contract basis for its shipyard in Howrah, West Bengal. The contract is for five years with annual salary increments and additional benefits including CPF, medical insurance, and accident coverage. There is no application fee for this recruitment. If you are an MBBS doctor with at least 2 years of post-internship clinical experience and know Bengali, this could be a great opportunity in the public sector shipbuilding industry.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need an MBBS degree or equivalent from a recognised university.
• Medical Council Registration: You must have a valid registration with the Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council.
• Language: Knowledge of Bengali is mandatory.
• Experience: You need at least 2 years of post-internship clinical experience in a Government Hospital, Public Sector Undertaking, Armed Forces, ESI Hospital, or Private Hospital.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience in an Industrial, Factory, or PSU Medical Establishment
• Emergency or Occupational Health exposure, Associate Fellow of Industrial Health, or Diploma in Industrial Health or Women's Health
• Medical Audit, TPA, or Medical Claims verification experience

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 64 years as on 13 April 2026.
• You should have been born on or after 14 April 1962 to be eligible.

Salary

• Monthly consolidated pay: Rs. 75,000 per month during the first year of contract.
• An annual increase will be given in the subsequent years as per Hooghly CSL policy.
• Higher consolidated pay may be offered if you have more experience relevant to the post.
• Additional benefits: Contributory Provident Fund, Medical Insurance, Accident Insurance, and Medical Expense Reimbursement as per HCSL policy.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Application Scrutiny and Shortlisting: HCSL will review your application and supporting documents to check if you meet the eligibility requirements. Only shortlisted candidates will move to the next stage.
2. Certificate Verification: You need to bring all original certificates for verification. If your originals do not match, your candidature will be cancelled.
3. Personal Interview (100 marks): Shortlisted candidates who clear the certificate verification will attend a personal interview at Hooghly CSL.
4. Medical Examination: Selected candidates will undergo a medical examination at hospitals prescribed by Hooghly CSL.

• Provide out-patient consultation and treatment to all eligible employees and their dependents
• Attend medical emergencies at the shipyard at any time of the day
• Provide first-aid treatment in case of workplace accidents
• Follow up on employees and dependents referred to or admitted in hospitals
• Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and statutory medical examinations
• Verify and issue Medical and Fitness certificates
• Maintain medical and health records and ensure compliance with Integrated Management System (IMS)
• Monitor occupational health in high-risk industrial areas and provide emergency medical coverage for ship repair operations
