National Informatics Centre (NIC), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, has released Advertisement No. NIC/STA/2026/2 for the recruitment of 376 Scientific/Technical Assistant-A posts. These are Group B, Non-Gazetted posts. Selection will be based on your GATE score -- no separate written exam by NIC.

Who Can Apply (Eligibility)

Educational Qualification:

• B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Informatics, Software Systems, or Computer & Networking Security
• OR M.Sc./MS/MCA in the above subjects

GATE Score (Mandatory):

• You must have a valid GATE 2024, 2025, or 2026 score in one of these papers: CS (Computer Science), EC (Electronics & Communication), or DA (Data Science & Artificial Intelligence)

Age Limit:

• Maximum 30 years for UR and EWS candidates
• Age relaxation available for SC, ST, OBC, and PwBD candidates as per government rules

Experience: No experience needed. Freshers can apply.

Salary and Pay

• Pay Level-6 (7th CPC): Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month
• Grade Pay (pre-7th CPC equivalent): Rs. 4,200
• Allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA) at 60%, House Rent Allowance (HRA) at 30%/20%/10% depending on city, and Transport Allowance
• Estimated gross salary: Rs. 56,640 to Rs. 67,320 per month

1. Merit list based on GATE 2024/2025/2026 scores (CS, EC, or DA papers)
2. Document Verification
3. Medical Examination

There is no separate written exam conducted by NIC. Your GATE score is the only basis for selection.
