Selection Process

The recruitment follows a two-stage selection process. First, you will appear for a Computer Based Test (CBT) with 200 MCQs to be completed in 3 hours. Candidates who clear the CBT will then be called for a Personal Interview (for MT and JMT posts) or a Skill Test (for OA Grade-III posts). The final merit is calculated with 80% weightage for CBT and 20% for the Interview/Skill Test.

Preparation Tips

  1. Focus on your core subject — for MT/JMT posts, Subject Knowledge carries 80% of CBT marks, so nail your Civil Engineering or Law fundamentals
  2. Practice quantitative aptitude and reasoning — these sections carry 10% each for MT/JMT posts and 35% combined for OA posts
  3. Brush up on General Awareness and English — OA aspirants need to prepare English (30%), Computer Application (15%), and General Awareness (20%)
  4. Watch out for negative marking — each wrong answer costs you 0.25 marks, so avoid blind guessing

Responsibilities

  • Undergo 1-year training at various OPTCL units across Odisha including induction at Power Training Centre, Chandaka, Bhubaneswar
  • Execute assigned tasks in civil engineering design, construction supervision, and maintenance of power transmission infrastructure (MT/JMT Civil)
  • Handle legal matters, contract documentation, and regulatory compliance (MT Law)
  • Perform office administration, data entry, file management, and correspondence using MS Office tools (OA Grade-III)
  • Work at any existing or upcoming unit of OPTCL throughout Odisha as assigned by the Corporation

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering (MT Civil/JMT Civil), LLB (MT Law), or Bachelor's Degree (OA Grade-III) from a recognized university in regular mode with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST)

Preferred Qualification

Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint for Office Assistant Grade-III post

Required Skills

Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required for OA Grade-III; Odia language reading, writing and speaking proficiency mandatory for all posts

21 - 32 years (as on 01 Feb 2026)
