Angul District Court Counsellor Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Office of the District and Sessions Judge, Angul (under the Hon'ble High Court of Orissa, Cuttack) has invited applications from eligible candidates for filling up the vacant post of Counsellor in the Family Court, Angul. This recruitment is being done under Rules 5 and 6 of the Family Courts (Orissa) Rules, 1990. There is no written exam — selection will be based on your qualifications, experience, and suitability for the role. Candidates with a background in sociology, psychology, or social service should apply.

Who Can Apply?

Primary Eligibility

  • Qualification: You must have a Master's Degree in Social Science, preferably in Sociology or Psychology, from a recognized university.
  • Experience: You need a minimum of 3 years of experience in family counseling.
  • Language: You must be able to speak, read, and write Odia and have passed the Odia language test equivalent to the M.E. Standard.
  • Citizenship: You must be a citizen of India.
  • Health: You should be of sound health, good physique, and free from any organic defects or bodily infirmity.
  • Marital Status: You shall have not more than one spouse living.

Alternative Eligibility (When Primary Candidates Are Not Available)

  • Persons above the age of 35 years who have been working in the field of social service and welfare activities and are engaged in promoting the welfare of Family and Child Care.
  • Such candidates must hold a Degree in Social Science (preferably in Sociology or Psychology).

Age Limit

  • No specific minimum or maximum age has been mentioned in the official notification for primary eligibility candidates.
  • For the alternative eligibility category, candidates must be above 35 years of age.
  • Age will be calculated as on 20 April 2026.

Salary

  • The selected Counsellor will receive a consolidated fee of Rs. 6,000 per month.
  • Additionally, an assisting fee of Rs. 1,000 per day of actual work is payable as per Resolution No.IJ-02/2019-6839/L dated 23.04.2025 of the Government of Orissa, Law Department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and advise the parties involved in family disputes regarding the settlement of the subject matter of dispute between them.
  • Help the disputing parties in arriving at a reconciliation and amicable resolution of their differences.
  • Counsel individuals and families on matters related to marriage, custody, and domestic issues referred by the Family Court.
  • Prepare detailed reports on each counseling session and submit them to the Judge, Family Court.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information shared by the parties during counseling sessions.
  • Follow the procedures and guidelines laid down under the Family Courts Act, 1984 and the Family Courts (Orissa) Rules, 1990.
  • Coordinate with legal aid services, social welfare organizations, and child protection agencies as needed.
  • Keep proper records and documentation of all cases handled and outcomes achieved.
