About This Job

Assam Rifles has released a notification for 12 General Duty Medical Officer (GDMO) posts on a contractual basis at Assam Rifles Hospitals and Battalions across the Northeast. Who Can Apply?

Salary

  • Selected GDMOs will receive a consolidated remuneration of Rs. 75,000 per month.
  • No other allowance, grant, or practicing allowance will be provided.
  • Government accommodation, transportation, and ration or food will not be admissible.
  • The Medical Officer must reside in the near vicinity of the duty station.

Contract Details

  • Duration: The appointment is contractual for 1 year, or until the regular incumbent joins, or until the appointee turns 67 years old — whichever comes first.
  • Extension: No extension beyond the stipulated 1-year period will be given.
  • Termination: Either side can terminate the contract with one month's notice or by paying or refunding one month's salary.
  • Leave: You will be entitled to 30 days of leave per year.
  • The appointee cannot claim any right to a regular appointment under CAPFs.
  • You must work full-time and cannot hold any other paid or unpaid appointment during the contract period.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based entirely on a walk-in interview:

  1. Walk-in Interview: You will be interviewed by a board at Assam Rifles HQ DGAR, Laitkor, Shillong. Carry all original documents along with self-attested photocopies.
  2. Document Verification: Your educational certificates, internship completion certificate, medical council registration, identity proof, and experience certificates (if any) will be verified on the spot.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general medical care and treatment to Assam Rifles personnel and their dependents at the assigned hospital or battalion.
  • Handle outpatient and inpatient cases, conduct clinical examinations, and prescribe appropriate treatment.
  • Assist in medical emergencies and provide first aid in field conditions when required.
  • Keep accurate medical records and maintain patient health documentation as per institutional guidelines.
  • Follow standard medical protocols and guidelines established by the Assam Rifles medical directorate.
  • Monitor and manage the health and hygiene conditions at the duty station and surrounding areas.
  • Prepare medical fitness and health assessment reports for personnel as directed.
  • Work full-time at the assigned location and be available for duty as per the operational requirements of the force.
