Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You need a PhD degree (awarded or provisional) in the relevant domain from a recognized university or institution approved under UGC regulations.
  • Experience: You must have at least 4 years of post-qualification industrial experience as on 31 December 2025. Only industrial experience counts here -- teaching, academic research, internships, banking/financial sector roles, and contractual or trainee positions in BEL or other PSUs will not be considered.
  • Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply. BEL internal candidates are not eligible for this recruitment.

Your PhD specialization must match the domain you are applying for. If the branch in your degree certificate does not match the application, you will not be considered for selection.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 37 years for General category (as on 01 January 2026)
  • OBC (NCL): 3 years relaxation (up to 40 years)
  • SC/ST: 5 years relaxation (up to 42 years)
  • PwBD: 10 years additional relaxation as per government guidelines

Salary

  • Pay scale: Rs. 50,000 - 3% - Rs. 1,60,000 per month (E-III Grade)
  • You will get 5 advance increments at entry level along with 2 years seniority benefit
  • Perquisites: 35% of basic pay as perks, plus Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, and Performance Related Pay (PRP)
  • Additional benefits include medical reimbursement, Provident Fund, Gratuity, Superannuation Pension, and Group Insurance as per BEL company rules

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

  1. Written Test: All eligible candidates will be called for a written examination. The exact date and time will be communicated via email.
  2. Personal Interview: Based on written test scores, candidates will be shortlisted for interview in the ratio of 1:7 (7 candidates per vacancy) in order of merit and category. Outstation candidates (except NCR region) called for interview will be reimbursed II class rail fare by the shortest route.

The list of shortlisted candidates for both written test and interview will be published on the BEL website. Call letters will be sent via email only.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced research in assigned technology domain (AI, Communication, Cyber Security, Robotics, Quantum Technology, or Aerospace)
  • Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions for defence electronics applications
  • Prepare technical reports, research papers, and documentation for ongoing projects
  • Work with cross-functional teams on defence product development programs
  • Assist in technology transfer from research lab to production units
  • Monitor emerging technologies and recommend new research directions for BEL
  • Manage laboratory equipment and research facilities in CRL Bengaluru or Ghaziabad

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

PhD degree (awarded or provisional) from recognized University in relevant domain

Preferred Qualification

PhD in Aerospace/Civil Aviation, AI, Communication, Cyber Security, Robotics/Autonomous Systems, or Quantum Technology with relevant industrial experience

Required Skills

Post-qualification industrial experience in defence electronics, advanced technology research, prototype development

Exam Pattern

BEL will conduct a written test for all eligible candidates. Based on the written test score, candidates will be shortlisted for interview in the ratio of 1:7 (7 candidates per vacancy) in order of merit and category.

Written Test: The exact date and time will be communicated via email. You need to bring a valid government ID proof and printout of the email on the day of the written test.

Interview: Shortlisted candidates will appear for a personal interview. If you are working in a PSU or Government organization, you must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of interview.

Travel Reimbursement: Outstation candidates (except NCR region) called for interview will be reimbursed II class rail fare by the shortest route, subject to proof of travel.
