Berhampur University (BU), Bhanja Bihar, Berhampur - 760007, Ganjam, Odisha has released Recruitment Notice No. 3278/Admn-I(TE)/BU/2026 dated 28.04.2026 to fill 95 regular faculty positions including backlog vacancies. The recruitment is split into three separate notifications: Professor (Notification 3262, 19 posts), Associate Professor (Notification 3263, 38 posts) and Assistant Professor (Notification 3264, 38 posts). Posts are spread across PG Departments and Lingaraj Law College. Selection is merit and interview based — there is no written exam. Posts marked (W) prefer women candidates.

Who Can Apply?
For Assistant Professor (Pay Level 10):
- You need a Master's Degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD) in the relevant subject from an Indian or foreign University.
- You must have cleared NET / SLET / SET or have a Ph.D. awarded as per UGC Regulations 2009/2016.
- A Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked top 500 in QS / THE / ARWU is also acceptable.
For Associate Professor (Pay Level 13A):
- A good academic record with a Ph.D. degree in the relevant discipline.
- A Master's Degree with 55% marks (50% for reserved categories).
- At least 8 years of teaching/research experience as Assistant Professor or equivalent.
- 7 publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals and a research score of 75 as per UGC Appendix II, Table 2.
For Professor (Pay Level 14):
- Option A: A Ph.D. in the relevant discipline with 10 publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals, research score of 120, plus 10 years of teaching/research experience at university/college and evidence of guiding a doctoral candidate.
- Option B: An outstanding professional with a Ph.D., significant contribution to the relevant discipline and 10 years of experience from industry/academia.
Age Limit
- Candidates above 60 years will not be eligible to apply.
- Age and eligibility will be checked as on the closing date of online application (10 June 2026).
- Reservation will be as per Government of Odisha norms. Exchange of reservation is not permitted.
Salary
- Assistant Professor: Pay Level 10 — Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 per month (7th CPC)
- Associate Professor: Pay Level 13A — Rs. 1,31,400 to Rs. 2,17,100 per month (7th CPC)
- Professor: Pay Level 14 — Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200 per month (7th CPC)
- You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Government of Odisha rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection is purely interview and merit based as per UGC Notification 18 July 2018:
- Screening / Scrutiny: Applications received by the due date will be screened.
- Shortlisting: Maximum 15 candidates per single post. For multiple posts, candidates are called in the ratio of 1:10 based on scrutiny scores.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates face the selection committee. You must present a 9-slide PPT (biodata, subject strength, practical skills, AI in pedagogy, research projects, consultancy, collaborations, contribution to the University) using Arial Black font size 24.
Scoring follows Table 3A of Appendix-II for Assistant Professor and Table 2 of Appendix-II for Associate Professor and Professor (UGC 18 July 2018).

- Teach assigned subjects to undergraduate, postgraduate and Lingaraj Law College students as per the approved curriculum
- Prepare lesson plans, study materials and question papers, and evaluate student performance
- Supervise M.Phil. and Ph.D. research scholars and guide their thesis work
- Conduct independent research, publish in UGC-listed peer-reviewed journals and submit funded research proposals
- Participate in admission processes, departmental committees and administrative activities
- Engage in consultancy work and link academic outputs to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Build national and international academic collaborations for the department
- Contribute to the development of Berhampur University, Odisha and Vikashit Bharat through teaching and research
