DRDO NSTL Consultant Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) through its Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL) has invited applications from retired government officials for 2 Consultant positions on a contract basis at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. One post is for Technical work (documentation for the ALWT/NST-208 project) and the other is for Administrative/Legal work (handling court cases, disciplinary matters, and labour law compliance). DRDO experience holders will get preference during selection. This is a great opportunity for recently retired officials who want to continue contributing to India's defence research.

Who Can Apply?

For Technical Consultant (Post Code 2025/NSTL/281):

• Qualification: You must be an Engineering graduate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics (Embedded Systems).
• Retirement Level: You should have retired at Pay Level-13A or equivalent.
• Experience: You need practical knowledge in design, development of documentation templates, and documentation of defence products/systems under export or induction.
• Skills: Ability to review production documents submitted by agencies and prepare MQAPs, ATPs, technical manuals, user manuals, and MR manuals.

For Administrative Consultant (Post Code 2025/NSTL/282):

• Retirement Level: You should have retired at Pay Level-9 or Level-10 or equivalent.
• Experience: You must have work experience dealing with court cases, disciplinary proceedings, and labour law matters.
• Knowledge Required: You should be well-versed with the Prevention of Corruption Act, Central Vigilance Commission Act, CCS (Conduct) Rules, CCS (CCA) Rules, RTI Act, Contract Labour Act, Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, Industrial Dispute Act, Factories Act, and Indian Contracts Act.

General Eligibility (Both Posts):

• You must have retired from Central/State Government, PSUs, Autonomous Bodies, Universities, or Government R&D Organizations.
• Those with DRDO experience will be given preference during selection.
• You must have effective communication skills (both oral and written) and strong interpersonal abilities.
• There must be a minimum gap of 15 days between your retirement date and the date of appointment as Consultant.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 63 years as on the closing date of application (13 April 2026).
• This age limit applies to all categories of retired government employees.

Remuneration

• For Pensioners: A fixed monthly amount calculated by deducting basic pension from the pay drawn at retirement. No annual increments during the contract.
• For Non-Pensioners (Technical - Level 13A): Consolidated remuneration of Rs. 60,000 per month plus Rs. 5,000 conveyance allowance.
• For Non-Pensioners (Admin - Level 9/10): Consolidated remuneration of Rs. 40,000 per month plus Rs. 3,000 conveyance allowance.
• For NPS Retirees: 70% of last basic pay as fixed monthly remuneration, plus conveyance allowance (Rs. 3,000 for up to Level-11; Rs. 5,000 for Level 12-14).
• Consultants can continue to draw their pension and dearness relief during the engagement period.
• No DA, HRA, transport facility, residential accommodation, personal staff, CGHS, or medical reimbursement will be provided.
• TA/DA for official travel within India will be paid at rates matching your retired Grade Pay/Pay Level.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this recruitment. Selection will be based on:

• Provide legal opinions on issues arising at the laboratory and ensure timely implementation of court judgments
• Manage compliance with Factories Act, Contract Labour Act, and other labour legislation
• Maintain records under various Labour Acts and facilitate licence/registration renewals
