GPSC Accounts Officer Class-I Recruitment 2026 -- 6 Posts

The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC), headquartered in Ahmedabad, is a constitutional body that handles recruitment for Class-I and Class-II posts in the Gujarat state government. This recruitment is for the Gujarat Accounts Service under the Finance Department. Who Can Apply?

You need to meet any one of these qualification criteria:

Option A -- Professional Qualification

• Chartered Accountant (CA), or
• Cost and Works Accountant (ICWA) / Cost and Management Accountant (CMA), or
• Company Secretary (CS)

Option B -- M.Com + 3 Years Experience

• A degree in Master of Commerce (M.Com) from a recognized university, and
• About 3 years of experience in accounts and audit work in Government, Board, Corporation, Local bodies, University, Banking organization, or a company registered under the Companies Act, 2013 / CA firm

Option C -- B.Com + 5 Years Experience

• A degree in Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) from a recognized university, and
• About 5 years of experience in accounts and audit work in Government, Board, Corporation, Local bodies, University, Banking organization, or a company registered under the Companies Act, 2013 / CA firm

Additional Requirements

• Computer knowledge as prescribed in Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967
• Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 20 years
• Maximum age: 40 years
• Age calculated as on: 15 April 2026 (last date of application)

Age Relaxation

• SC/ST Male candidates (Gujarat origin): 5 years relaxation (maximum age 45 years)
• Female ST candidates (Gujarat origin): 10 years relaxation (including 5 years for female; maximum age 45 years)
• Persons with Disability (PwD): 10 years relaxation (maximum age 45 years)
• Government Employees: Relaxation as per Gujarat Civil Service Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967

Salary

• Pay Matrix Level: Level 10
• Pay Scale: Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month
• Grade Pay: Equivalent to Rs. 5,400 (pre-7th CPC)
• Allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, and other allowances as applicable to Gujarat government employees

Your starting basic pay will be Rs. 56,100 per month. With current DA and HRA rates, the total monthly take-home can be around Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 1,00,000+ depending on your posting city.

Selection Process

The selection has three stages:

1. Preliminary Examination (MCQ -- Objective Type)
   • Paper 1: General Studies -- 200 marks, 3 hours
   • Paper 2: Accountancy and Auditing -- 200 marks, 3 hours
   • Both papers are MCQ (objective type) at standard level
   • Syllabus available on gpsc.gujarat.gov.in
2. Main Examination (Written -- Descriptive Type)
   • Paper 1: Gujarati Language -- 150 marks, 3 hours
   • Paper 2: English Language -- 150 marks, 3 hours
   • Paper 3: General Studies -- 200 marks, 3 hours
   • Paper 4: Accountancy and Auditing-I -- 200 marks, 3 hours
   • Paper 5: Accountancy and Auditing-II -- 200 marks, 3 hours
   • Total: 900 marks
   • All papers are descriptive-conventional type
3. Interview (Oral Test): 100 marks

Note: Candidates must get the minimum qualifying marks in the preliminary exam to appear in the main exam. The preliminary exam is for screening only -- marks are not added to the final total. The final merit is based on Main Examination + Interview marks.

8. Complete the Self-Declaration section and save your application
9. Pay the application fee online (Net Banking, Card Payment) or via post office challan before 16 April 2026

• Handle accounts and audit work for various departments under the Gujarat state government
• Prepare, examine, and verify financial statements, budgets, and expenditure reports
• Keep accurate records of government receipts, payments, and treasury operations
• Monitor compliance with government financial rules, regulations, and accounting standards
• Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and audit reports for state departments
• Work with the Accountant General's office and other agencies for reconciliation of accounts
• Follow prescribed accounting procedures under the Gujarat Financial Rules and Treasury Code
• Manage fund allocation, budget tracking, and expenditure control for assigned departments
