GPSC Veterinary Officer Class-2 Recruitment 2026 — 18 Posts

Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification
- You must have a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) OR a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science from a recognized university.
- The degree must be recognized under the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 or included in the first/second schedule of the Act.
Other Requirements
- You must have basic computer knowledge as per Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
- You must know Gujarati or Hindi or both.
- You need to get registered with the Gujarat Veterinary Council or Veterinary Council of India under the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984, at the time of appointment.

- Pay Scale: Rs. 44,900 — Rs. 1,42,400 per month
- Pay Matrix Level: Level 8 (7th CPC)
- Entry-level basic pay: Rs. 44,900 per month
- You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, and other benefits as per Gujarat Government rules.
- Approximate monthly in-hand salary: Rs. 65,000 — Rs. 75,000 (including DA and allowances at entry level)

Selection Process
- Preliminary Test: This is a written exam held at Gandhinagar or Ahmedabad. It has two parts:
- Part I — General Studies: 100 questions, 100 marks
- Part II — Veterinary Science (Subject): 200 questions, 200 marks
- Total: 300 questions, 300 marks
- Time: 180 minutes (3 hours)
- You need at least 15% marks in the prelims to be eligible for the interview.
- Interview: Based on your prelims score, the Commission will call candidates for an interview. The ratio depends on the number of vacancies.
- Final Merit: Weighted marks formula — (Prelims marks obtained / 300 x 50) + (Interview marks / 100 x 50) = Total Weighted Marks

Responsibilities
- Handle diagnosis and treatment of common animal diseases and medical emergencies in government veterinary hospitals and dispensaries.
- Manage vaccination drives and immunization camps for livestock and domestic animals across assigned areas.
- Monitor animal health, nutrition, and welfare to prevent spread of zoonotic diseases.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of treatments, patient data, medicine usage, and vaccination details.
- Assist in livestock development programs and breed improvement initiatives of the state government.
- Follow standard veterinary practices and guidelines issued by the Gujarat Veterinary Council and state authorities.
- Work with farmers and animal owners to promote awareness about animal healthcare, nutrition, and disease prevention.
