HVF Avadi Apprentice Recruitment 2026-27 — 450 Posts
Heavy Vehicles Factory (HVF), Avadi, Chennai is a unit of Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL), a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Defence. HVF is one of India's premier defence production facilities, well known for manufacturing main battle tanks and armoured vehicles for the Indian Army. This recruitment covers 3 categories of apprentices across engineering, diploma, and non-engineering streams, offering a total of 450 one-year training slots. Who Can Apply?
For Graduate Apprentices (Engineering/Technology):
- Qualification: You need a full-time Degree in Engineering or Technology (B.E. / B.Tech) from a recognized university in the relevant discipline.
- Year of Passing: You must have passed out in 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025.
For Diploma (Technician) Apprentices:
- Qualification: You need a full-time Diploma in Engineering or Technology from a recognized institution in the relevant discipline.
- Year of Passing: You must have passed out in 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025.
For Non-Engineering Graduate Apprentices:
- Qualification: You need a regular full-time Degree in Arts, Science, Commerce, or Humanities (BA / B.Sc / B.Com / BBA / BCA, etc.) from a recognized university.
- Year of Passing: You must have passed out in 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025.
Regional Eligibility: Only candidates from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Puducherry are eligible to apply.
Age Limit
- Age limit is as per the Apprenticeship Act, 1961.
- You should be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
- There is no strict upper age limit prescribed by the Apprenticeship Act for graduate and diploma apprentices, though HVF may set its own criteria during shortlisting.
Monthly Stipend
- Graduate Apprentices (Engineering/Technology): Rs. 18,000 per month
- Diploma (Technician) Apprentices: Rs. 16,200 per month
- Non-Engineering Graduate Apprentices: Rs. 18,000 per month
- The stipend is paid during the entire 1-year training period as per the Apprenticeship Act norms.

- No application fee. NATS (National Apprenticeship Training Scheme) is a completely free scheme by the Government of India.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
There is no written exam for this recruitment. Selection is purely on merit:
- Merit-Based Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on their academic marks in the qualifying examination (degree or diploma percentage).
- Certificate Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification at HVF Avadi, Chennai. You need to bring all original certificates for verification.
Note: Preference is given to candidates from the local area (Tamil Nadu and neighbouring southern states).

Responsibilities
- Assist engineers and technicians in day-to-day production and maintenance tasks at HVF Avadi
- Operate tools, machinery, and equipment under the guidance of senior technical staff
- Follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures in the workshop and factory floor
- Maintain records of work done, materials used, and tasks completed during training
- Participate in on-the-job training sessions and skill development programs
- Work with different departments to gain hands-on exposure in defence vehicle manufacturing
- Prepare reports and presentations on training activities as required by supervisors
