IISER Pune Research Associate-I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune (IISER Pune), an Institute of National Importance established by an Act of Parliament in 2012, has announced a walk-in interview for 1 Research Associate-I post. The position is under an ANRF-funded project titled "Development of Proteolytically Stable alpha, gamma-Peptides as Potent Antibiotics for Multidrug-Resistant Bacterial Infections" in the Chemistry Department. No written exam is needed -- selection is through a walk-in interview. Ph.D. holders or candidates who have submitted their thesis in relevant fields should attend.

Who Can Apply?

For Research Associate-I (Rs. 58,000/month + HRA):

• Qualification: You must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry (with specialization in Peptides), Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Microbiology, or any closely related field.
• Thesis submitted candidates: If you have submitted your Ph.D. thesis and are awaiting the degree, you are also eligible. However, you will be designated as Senior Research Fellow and paid Rs. 42,000/month + 30% HRA.
• Degree source: Your qualification must be from a recognised university or institution.

Preferred Experience:

• Hands-on experience in cell culture
• Experience in cytotoxicity studies of peptides and peptide antibiotics
• Knowledge of the mechanism of action of antimicrobial peptides
• Proficiency in confocal microscopy
• Experience in handling animals

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 35 years as on the date of walk-in interview (07 April 2026).
• Age relaxation: May be considered for candidates with higher qualifications and/or experience beyond the minimum, with prior approval of the competent authority.

Salary

• Research Associate-I (Ph.D. holders): Rs. 58,000 per month + 30% House Rent Allowance
• Senior Research Fellow (thesis submitted): Rs. 42,000 per month + 30% House Rent Allowance
• The total monthly pay for RA-I comes to approximately Rs. 75,400 including HRA.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on a walk-in interview only:

1. Walk-in Interview: You need to attend in person at IISER Pune on 07 April 2026. A screening committee may shortlist candidates based on qualifications and experience if the number of applicants is large.
2. Document Verification: Your original documents will be verified during the walk-in.

Note: No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.

• Handle animal models for in-vivo testing of peptide antibiotics
• Maintain detailed lab records and prepare research reports for the project investigator
• Analyse experimental data and contribute to manuscript preparation for publications
• Follow laboratory safety protocols and maintain equipment in working condition
