IOL was carved out from the Ordnance Factory Board in 2021 and is a leading manufacturer of electro-optical sensors, weapon sights, and military communication equipment for the Indian Armed Forces. Who Can Apply?

For Consultant (Field Trial Coordination):

  • Rank: You must be a retired Lt. Colonel from the Infantry Corps of the Indian Army.
  • Retirement: You should have retired within the last 3 years from the closing date of this advertisement.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in Infantry Weapon System and co-ordination with Army Establishments.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of Optical/Electro-Optical Sights and Infantry Operational Employment is required.

For Consultant (Coordination):

  • Rank: You must be a retired Major or Lt. Colonel from one of the following corps: Armoured Corps, Mechanised Infantry, Corps of Artillery, Army Ordnance Corps, or Corps of EME.
  • Nationality: Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.

Age Limit

  • Upper age limit is 62 years as on the closing date of the advertisement.
  • The maximum tenure of engagement is limited to 65 years of age.
  • The initial engagement is for 1 year, extendable by another year based on performance. Extension beyond 2 years after superannuation may be considered up to a maximum of 3 years (not beyond 5 years after superannuation).

Salary and Remuneration

  • Your remuneration will be calculated as Pay drawn at the time of Retirement minus Basic Pension (as per Department of Expenditure OM No. 3-25/2020-E.III A dated 09.12.2020).
  • This amount remains fixed throughout the contract period with no provision for annual increments or percentage increases.
  • Transport Allowance: A fixed amount (not exceeding the rate applicable at retirement) will be provided for commuting.
  • Field Trial Incentive: Rs. 1,000 per day for Plains Trials, and Rs. 3,000 per day for Desert/High Temperature and High Altitude/Extreme Terrain Trials.
  • TA/DA: Entitled to claim travelling allowance on official tours as per entitlement at the time of retirement.
  • No additional allowances such as DA, HRA, etc. will be provided.
  • Leave: Paid leave at the rate of 1.5 days for each completed month of service.

Selection Process

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Army Headquarters, Trial Units, Workshops, and user establishments for planning and execution of field trials of optical and electro-optical equipment.
  • Interpret General Staff Qualitative Requirements (GSQRs) and user requirements for integration into product design and development.
  • Provide strategic inputs on weapon sight ergonomics, firing postures, usability, and deployment patterns based on field experience.
  • Coordinate logistics and documentation for internal and external trials, including accompanying technical teams to field locations.
  • Represent IOL at Army Depots and Units as the Senior Representative at regional offices, maintaining liaison with Service Headquarters, Ministry of Defence, and MHA.
  • Monitor and follow up on RFPs, quotations, contracts, and bills related to Army Depot and Unit transactions.
  • Address technical and administrative issues with respect to Army Depot and Unit operations and keep IOL Headquarters updated.
  • Prepare trial reports, user requirement summaries, and coordinate visits of senior officers from Service Headquarters to IOL factories.
