India Optel Limited (IOL) is a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Defence, headquartered at Raipur, Dehradun in Uttarakhand. IOL is an established manufacturer of optical and opto-electronics sights, systems, and cables for military and para-military forces, and currently leads the market in this segment. The company is now hiring 77 Junior Project Engineers across five engineering disciplines on a Fixed Term Contract basis for up to 2 years (extendable to 5 years). Who Can Apply?

Chemical

  • Qualification: First Class (60% marks) full-time regular B.Sc. Degree in Chemistry from a recognised university
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of post-qualification relevant experience

Electrical

  • Qualification: Full-time regular 3-year Diploma in Engineering in Electrical, Electrical & Electronics, or Plant Maintenance Engineering with minimum 60% marks from a recognised university
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of post-qualification relevant work experience

Electronics

  • Qualification: Full-time regular 3-year Diploma in Engineering in Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Instrumentation, or Industrial Electronics & Instrumentation with minimum 60% marks from a recognised university
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of post-qualification relevant work experience

Mechanical

  • Qualification: Full-time regular 3-year Diploma in Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Mechatronics with minimum 60% marks from a recognised university
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of post-qualification relevant work experience

Optics & Coating

  • Qualification: First Class (60% marks) full-time regular B.Sc. Degree with Physics and Mathematics as major subjects from a recognised university
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of post-qualification relevant experience

Note: Only full-time regular courses are accepted. General/OBC(NCL)/EWS candidates need minimum 60% marks, while SC/ST/PwBD candidates need minimum 50% marks.

Age Limit

  • You must be between 18 and 35 years old as on the closing date of the advertisement.
  • Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen and other eligible categories is available as per Government of India directives.

Salary

  • Pay Level: Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 1,20,000 per month (basic pay)
  • Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA) as notified by DPE for CPSEs
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per applicable rates (if no company accommodation is allotted)
  • Medical Allowance: Rs. 1,500 per month
  • Annual Increment: 3% of basic pay (rounded off to next Rs. 10)
  • EPF: 12% of Basic Pay plus DA (employer matches equally)
  • Retention Bonus: 25% of last month's basic pay for each completed year of service
  • Gratuity: Payable after completing minimum 1 year of service

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

  1. Screening: A Screening Committee will shortlist eligible candidates for interview. Higher criteria may be adopted if applications exceed vacancies.
  2. Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted at 1.5 times the number of vacancies based on percentage of marks in Diploma/B.Sc.
  3. Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview. Call letters will be sent by email.
  4. Final Merit: Calculated as 75% weightage of percentage in Diploma/B.Sc + 25% weightage of performance in the personal interview.
  5. Document Verification: Original certificates will be verified before the interview. Any discrepancy will lead to rejection.
  6. Medical Examination: You must be declared physically and medically fit as per the prescribed standards.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out production and shop floor activities related to optical and opto-electronics systems
  • Perform production quality-related inspections and testing work
  • Handle mechanical, electrical, electronics, metallurgical, and chemical lab-related tasks as per the post requirement
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain proper documentation of production processes
  • Assist senior engineers in project execution and production planning
  • Work on calibration, assembly, and integration of optical and defence equipment
  • Complete any other activities assigned by higher authorities from time to time

Exam Pattern

There is no written exam for IOL Junior Project Engineer recruitment. Selection is entirely based on academic merit and personal interview.

Merit Calculation

  • Diploma/B.Sc. Marks: 75% weightage of your percentage in the qualifying examination
  • Personal Interview: 25% weightage of your performance in the interview

Final Merit = (75% x Diploma/B.Sc. percentage) + (25% x Interview marks)

Tie-Breaking: If two or more candidates have equal final merit scores, preference goes to the older candidate by date of birth. If the date of birth is also the same, alphabetical order of names is used.
