Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), has released a recruitment notification (Advt No. MCL/HQ/Recruitment/Statutory/2026/120) for 667 posts. These include Junior Overman, Mining Sirdar, Surveyor, Technician (Pathology) and Translator posts.

MCL operates coal mines mainly in Odisha. This is a great opportunity for candidates with mining qualifications and valid DGMS certificates to get a permanent government job in a Maharatna PSU company.

Qualification Needed

• Junior Overman: Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering + valid Overman Certificate from DGMS + First Aid + Gas Testing Certificate
• Mining Sirdar: 10+2 or Diploma in Mining + Mining Sirdarship Certificate from DGMS + First Aid + Gas Testing Certificate
• Surveyor: 10+2 or Diploma in Mine Surveying + Survey Certificate from DGMS
• Technician (Pathology): Diploma in Pathology
• Translator: BA with Hindi and English

Age Limit

You must be between 18 and 30 years old as on 06-04-2026.

• OBC: 3 years relaxation
• SC/ST: 5 years relaxation
• Ex-Servicemen: Length of service + 3 years
• PwBD: 10/13/15 years

Salary

• Junior Overman and Mining Sirdar: Rs 47,330 per month
• Surveyor: Rs 51,103 per month
• Translator: Rs 41,966 per month

Plus DA, HRA and other allowances as per NCWA-XI.

Selection Process

No interview. Selection through:

1. CBT - 100 MCQs (20 General + 80 Technical). No negative marking.
2. Document Verification - 1:3 ratio

Qualifying marks: UR/EWS 45%, OBC 40%, SC/ST 35%.

• Supervise and manage underground and opencast mining operations safely
• Check ventilation, gas levels and safety conditions in mines before and during shifts
• Ensure compliance with Coal Mines Regulations and DGMS safety standards
• Maintain proper records and reports of daily mining activities
• Handle surveying and mapping of mine areas (Surveyor post)
• Conduct pathology tests and maintain lab records (Technician Pathology post)
• Translate official documents between Hindi and English (Translator post)
• Guide and manage mine workers during shift operations
• Report any safety hazards or dangerous conditions immediately to senior officers
• Follow all safety rules and use protective equipment as per company guidelines
