NIA Investigation Expert (Consultant) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
National Investigation Agency (NIA), functioning under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is India's central counter-terrorism law enforcement agency established under the NIA Act, 2008. The Jaipur Branch Office is looking to engage a retired police officer as an Investigation Expert (Consultant) to strengthen its investigative capabilities. This is a Walk-In-Interview opportunity — there is no written exam or online application. Retired senior police officers from agencies like CBI, NIA, IB, NCB, NTRO, Cabinet Secretariat, Customs, Income Tax, DRI, and State Police forces are encouraged to attend.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You must have a Graduation degree from a recognised university.
- Service Background: You must be a retired police officer at the rank of Inspector, Dy. SP, Addl. SP, or SP (or equivalent) from Central or State Police organizations — CBI, NIA, NCB, IB, Cabinet Secretariat, NTRO, Customs, Income Tax, DRI, or State Police.
- Experience: You need at least 10 years of experience in handling criminal investigation cases, intelligence work, or counter-terrorism operations.
Age Limit
- Maximum age: Below 65 years
- No minimum age specified — but you must be a retired officer, so this applies to superannuated personnel.
Salary
- Your salary will be calculated as: Last Pay Drawn minus Basic Pension = Monthly Remuneration (as per MHA Office Memorandum dated 09-12-2020).
- No additional allowances like DA, HRA, etc. will be paid.
- TA/DA will be provided for official tours only.
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection will be done through a single stage:
- Walk-In-Interview: You need to appear at the NIA Branch Office, Jaipur on 21st or 22nd May 2026 at 11:00 AM. The interview will assess your experience in criminal investigation, counter-terrorism, and intelligence operations. Bring all supporting documents along with the filled application proforma (Annexure-I).

Responsibilities
- Provide expert consultancy on improving investigative techniques for ensuring quality investigation
- Advise on legal appreciation of evidence gathered during criminal investigations
- Guide officers on intelligence collection techniques and counter-terrorism methods
- Support NIA teams on new case law developments, court judgments, and their impact on investigations
- Assist in improving skills related to court procedures and legal document drafting
- Help manage criminal case records and advise on financial crime investigations including money laundering
- Train officers on CDR and IPDR analysis and modern technological tools for investigation

- Leave Entitlement: 1.5 days per completed calendar month of service
