If you hold a Matric (10th pass with 50% marks) and ITI (NCVT) certificate with 65% aggregate in a relevant trade, you can apply by India Post only. Naval Ship Repair Yard Kochi Trade Apprentice Recruitment 2026 - 240 Posts
Naval Ship Repair Yard (NSRY) Kochi and Naval Aircraft Yard (NAY) Kochi, operating under the Indian Navy, have announced recruitment for 240 Designated Trade Apprentice seats across 21 different ITI trades at Naval Base, Kochi. This is a great opportunity for ITI-qualified candidates from across India to gain hands-on training in a defence establishment. There is no application fee and no upper age limit as per MSDE guidelines. Training is expected to start tentatively from July 2026.

Reservation: SC, ST, and OBC vacancies are reserved as per Schedule-IIA (Rule 5) of MSDE Notification dated 16 June 2015. 3% of vacancies are reserved for Physically Handicapped candidates as per the Apprentices Act 1961.
Who Can Apply?
- Education: You must have passed Matric (10th Class) with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized Board.
- ITI Certificate: You need an ITI Examination pass certificate (NCVT) in the relevant trade with an aggregate of 65% marks. Provisional National Trade Certificate is also acceptable.
- Nationality: Indian citizens are eligible to apply.
- Note: Sons/daughters of Defence Civilian/Naval Dockyard Employees and Armed Forces personnel may indicate this in the application form.
Age Limit
- You must be above 18 years of age as on 01 June 2026.
- No upper age limit for apprenticeship training as per Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) Office Memorandum No. F.No. MSDE-14(03)/2021 AP-PMU dated 20 Dec 1961.
Stipend
- Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as per the Apprenticeship Act 1961 and MSDE norms.
- The current stipend range for ITI trade apprentices is approximately Rs. 6,800 to Rs. 12,300 per month depending on the trade and year of training.
- Important: It shall not be obligatory for Naval Ship Repair Yard, Kochi to provide employment to apprentices after the training is completed.

Selection Process
- Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on aggregate percentage of SSC (10th Class) and ITI marks.
- Interview / Medical Test: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview and medical examination. The exact date will be communicated through the call-up letter.
- Document Verification: Original certificates and documents will be verified during the interview stage.
There is no written examination for this recruitment. Selection is purely based on merit (marks) followed by interview and medical test.

Responsibilities
- Undergo hands-on technical training in your designated trade at the Naval Ship Repair Yard or Naval Aircraft Yard workshops in Kochi.
- Follow all instructions given by the training supervisors and adhere to the training schedule provided by the Apprentices Training School.
- Handle tools, equipment, and machinery related to your specific trade under the guidance of experienced naval technicians.
- Keep accurate records of daily training activities and maintain a training logbook as required under the Apprenticeship Act.
- Work alongside skilled tradesmen on repair, maintenance, and overhaul tasks related to naval ships and aircraft systems.
- Assist in technical tasks assigned during the training period, including workshop duties and practical assessments.
- Follow all safety regulations, security protocols, and discipline standards of the Naval establishment at all times.
