Diploma Trainee – Civil (DTC)

  • Full-time regular 3-year Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognised Technical Board/Institute

Diploma Trainee – Survey (DTS)

  • Full-time regular 3-year Diploma in Survey Engineering OR Diploma in Civil Engineering with Survey as a subject from a recognised Technical Board/Institute

Junior Officer Trainee – HR (JOT HR)

Salary

For DTE / DTC / DTS / JOT (HR) / JOT (F&A) posts:

  • During training (1 year): Pay scale Rs. 24,000 – 3% – 1,08,000 (IDA) at S0 level; Basic Pay Rs. 24,000/month + IDA, HRA, Perks @ 12% of Basic Pay
  • After successful training: Absorbed as Junior Engineer Gr-IV / Junior Officer Gr-IV at S1 level; Pay scale Rs. 25,000 – 3% – 1,17,500 (IDA)
  • Annual CTC approximately Rs. 12.7 Lakhs

For JTT (Survey) post:

  • During training (1 year): Pay scale Rs. 21,000 – 3% – 72,000 (IDA) at W2 level; Basic Pay Rs. 21,000/month + IDA, HRA, Perks @ 12% of Basic Pay
  • After successful training: Absorbed as Junior Technician at W3 level; Pay scale Rs. 21,500 – 3% – 74,000 (IDA)
  • Annual CTC approximately Rs. 10.9 Lakhs

After regularisation, the compensation package includes Basic Pay, Dearness Allowance, Perquisites, Performance Related Pay, Company Quarters or HRA, conveyance reimbursement, mobile, laptop, Provident Fund, Gratuity, Pension, Leave encashment, Group Insurance, and Group Personal Accident Insurance.

Note: A Service Agreement Bond is required. For DTE/DTC/DTS/JOT posts: Rs. 2,50,000 (General/OBC/EWS) and Rs. 1,25,000 (SC/ST/PwBD). For JTT Survey: Rs. 1,25,000 (General/OBC/EWS) and Rs. 62,500 (SC/ST/PwBD). The bond is for serving POWERGRID for a minimum of 3 years after training completion.

Selection Process

Selection is done in up to 3 stages:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT) — 100% weightage for merit: 170 objective-type questions carrying 1 mark each, duration 2 hours. The exam has two parts:
    • Part-I: 120 questions — Technical Knowledge Test (TKT) for DTE/DTC/DTS/JTT Survey OR Professional Knowledge Test (PKT) for JOT HR/F&A. Discipline-specific questions from the relevant field.
    • Part-II: 50 questions — Aptitude Test (AT) covering English vocabulary, verbal comprehension, quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability, data sufficiency & interpretation, numerical ability, and General Awareness
    Negative marking: 0.25 marks deducted per wrong answer. Compensatory time for PwBD candidates as per GOI directives.
  2. Computer Skill Test (CST) — for JOT (HR) and JOT (F&A) only: Qualifying in nature. Minimum qualifying marks: 50% for Unreserved/EWS and 40% for reserved category candidates. Does not carry weightage in final merit.
  3. Trade Test — for JTT (Survey) only: Qualifying in nature. Minimum qualifying marks: 40% for Unreserved/EWS and 30% for reserved category candidates. Does not carry weightage in final merit.
  4. Pre-Employment Medical Examination: Candidates must meet POWERGRID's health standards.
  5. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates are called in the ratio of 1:5 for vacancies up to 3, 1:5 for 4 vacancies, and 1:3 for 5 or more vacancies.

Final merit for DTE, DTC, DTS is based solely on CBT marks (100% weightage). For JOT and JTT, final merit is based on CBT marks, subject to qualifying CST/Trade Test.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in operation, maintenance, and monitoring of high-voltage electrical transmission systems and sub-stations
  • Handle survey, mapping, and field measurement work for transmission line projects as assigned
  • Prepare technical reports, data entries, and maintenance records for equipment and systems
  • Work in shifts and at remote project locations as per operational requirements of the region
  • Support senior engineers in planning, co-ordination, and execution of power grid infrastructure work
  • Follow safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and quality standards at all times
  • Assist HR and Finance departments in administrative, accounts, and people management functions (for JOT posts)
  • Participate in training programmes and complete the one-year mandatory training period successfully

Minimum Qualification

3-year Diploma in Engineering (Electrical/Civil/Survey) with 70% marks OR BBA/BBM/BBS Graduate with 60% marks OR Inter CA/Inter CMA OR 2-year ITI (Surveyor)
