RITES Group General Manager & General Manager (T&E) Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

Rail India Technical and Economic Service Limited (RITES), a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, has released vacancy circular No. 07/26 (D) dated 13 March 2026 for filling up one post of Group General Manager (T&E) and one post of General Manager (T&E) on deputation basis. This is exclusively for Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officers currently serving in Indian Railways, Zonal Railways, Production Units, or RDSO. The deputation tenure is 3 years, extendable based on performance, and the officer may be posted anywhere in India or abroad depending on project needs.

  • Group General Manager (T&E): 1 post — for IRTS officers at SAG / NF-SAG / SG level with 18 years of Group 'A' service
  • General Manager (T&E): 1 post — for IRTS officers at SG (Selection Grade) level with less than 18 years of Group 'A' service

Who Can Apply?

For Group General Manager (T&E) — Level 14:

  • Service: You must be a serving IRTS (Indian Railway Traffic Service) officer
  • Grade: SAG (Senior Administrative Grade) / NF-SAG (Non-Functional SAG) / SG (Selection Grade)
  • Experience: At least 18 years of Group 'A' service in Indian Railways

For General Manager (T&E) — Level 13:

  • Service: You must be a serving IRTS (Indian Railway Traffic Service) officer
  • Grade: SG (Selection Grade - Level 13 in 7th CPC)
  • Experience: Less than 18 years of Group 'A' service in Indian Railways

Note: You must have a degree or diploma in a relevant discipline as your basic educational qualification. Additional qualifications in relevant fields will earn you extra marks during evaluation.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 57 years as on the last date of submission of application
  • No minimum age limit specified

Salary

  • General Manager (T&E): 7th CPC Level 13 — entry pay Rs. 1,23,100 per month, maximum Rs. 2,15,900 per month
  • Group General Manager (T&E): 7th CPC Level 13 (NF-SAG/SG with 18 years) or Level 14 — pay up to Rs. 2,18,200 per month
  • You will continue to draw your parent pay plus deputation allowance and other perks as per Railway Board guidelines
  • RITES will provide Company or Leased Accommodation as per your entitlement

Selection Process

Selection will be based on a 100-point marking system with the following weightage:

  1. Educational Qualification (15 marks): Basic minimum qualification in relevant discipline gets 10 marks. Each additional relevant qualification earns 1 extra mark, up to a maximum of 5 marks
  2. Vigilance and D&AR Record (10 marks): Clean vigilance record throughout career gets full 10 marks. Cases closed without action also get 10 marks. Minor penalty action reduces score to 7.5, and major penalty action reduces it to 5 marks
  3. Performance in Service — APARs for 5 years (25 marks): Grading scale — Outstanding: 5, Very Good: 4, Good: 3, Good+Fair: 3.5, Average: 2, Below Average: 1
  4. Performance in Interview (50 marks): Covers domain knowledge, work experience, managerial competency, and overall suitability. The interview committee will assess and score candidates

Qualifying score: You need at least 60% marks (60 out of 100) to be considered for the merit list.

  4. Fill the prescribed application format (Annexure III) and attach your detailed CV
  5. Send the application through your respective administrative officer (HOD) along with No Objection Certificate, Vigilance/DAR clearance, penalty details (if any), and last 5 years ACR/APAR copies
  6. The forwarded application with all documents must reach RITES within 45 days from the date of the vacancy circular (i.e., by 27 April 2026)

Responsibilities

  • Handle transportation and engineering operations for infrastructure consultancy projects assigned by RITES
  • Manage project planning, monitoring, and execution for railways and multi-modal transport projects
  • Prepare detailed project reports, feasibility studies, and technical assessments for transportation infrastructure
  • Coordinate with Indian Railways, government agencies, and international clients for smooth project delivery
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and quality standards across domestic and overseas assignments
  • Lead teams of engineers and consultants working on transportation and engineering projects
  • Report to senior management on project progress, risks, and resource requirements

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

IRTS officer at SG/SAG/NF-SAG level with Group A service experience

Preferred Qualification

Additional relevant qualifications in transportation and engineering disciplines

Required Skills

Domain knowledge in transportation and engineering, managerial competency, project management
