RITES Group General Manager (Mech) Recruitment 2026 - 3 Posts

Rail India Technical and Economic Service Limited (RITES), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, is looking for experienced mechanical engineering officers from Indian Railways to join at the Group General Manager level on deputation. This is a re-advertisement as the 3 posts remained vacant due to non-receipt of forwarded applications in the previous round (VC No. 23/25(D) dated 14.08.2025). The tenure is 3 years, extendable based on performance and need. The primary posting location is Gurugram, Haryana, though officers may be posted anywhere in India or abroad based on project requirements.

Who Can Apply?

  • Service: You must be a serving IRSME (Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers) officer.
  • Grade: You should be at SAG (Senior Administrative Grade), NFSAG (Non-Functional Selection Grade), or SG (Selection Grade) level.
  • Experience: You need at least 18 years of Group A service in Indian Railways.
  • Qualification: Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.

  • Maximum age: 57 years as on the last date of application (12 April 2026).

Salary

  • 7th CPC Level 13: Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 2,15,900 per month (for IRSME officers with 18 years of Group A service)
  • 7th CPC Level 14: Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200 per month (for IRSME officers at higher grade)
  • As per Railway Board guidelines, you will get your parent pay plus deputation allowance and other perks admissible on deputation.
  • RITES will provide company or leased accommodation as per entitlement.

Selection Process

Selection will be based on a 100-point marking system across four criteria:

  1. Educational Qualification (15 marks): Basic minimum qualification in the relevant discipline gets 10 marks. Each additional relevant qualification earns 1 mark, up to a maximum of 5 marks.
  2. Vigilance and DAR Record (10 marks): Clean vigilance history throughout your career earns full 10 marks. Cases closed without action also get 10. Minor penalty actions reduce the score to 7.5, and major penalty actions bring it down to 5.
  3. Performance in Service - APARs (25 marks): Based on your Annual Performance Appraisal Reports for the last 5 years. Scoring is graded as Outstanding (5), Very Good (4), Good (3), Good+ (3.5), Average (2), and Below Average (1).
  4. Interview (50 marks): The interview panel will assess your domain knowledge, work experience, managerial competency, and overall suitability for the role.

You need to score at least 60% overall (i.e., 60 out of 100) to be placed on the merit list.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee mechanical engineering projects related to rolling stock, locomotives, and railway infrastructure
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to project teams working on rail and transport assignments
  • Handle quality assurance and inspection of mechanical components for railway projects
  • Prepare technical reports, project proposals, and feasibility studies
  • Coordinate with client railways, government agencies, and international partners on project deliverables
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for mechanical engineering activities
  • Represent RITES in technical meetings, conferences, and stakeholder consultations

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 18 years of Group A service as IRSME officer (SAG/NFSAG/SG level)

Preferred Qualification

Additional relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines

Required Skills

Mechanical engineering expertise, railway systems knowledge, project management, leadership and managerial competency

Exam Pattern

There is no written exam for this recruitment. Selection is through a 100-point marking system that evaluates four key areas:

Marking Criteria
