Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU) has invited applications for 2 posts across its Fisheries Sciences faculty and the ICAR-funded Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) at Sikkal, Nagapattinam. The Assistant Professor post is reserved under the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category, while the Assistant (KVK) post falls under the General Turn. Who Can Apply?

For Assistant Professor (Academic Level 10 — Rs. 57,700/month):

• Basic Degree: You must hold a B.F.Sc. (Bachelor of Fisheries Science) degree — this is mandatory.
• Master's Degree: You need at least 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA of 2.25/4.00 or 6.50/10.00) at the Master's level in a relevant Fisheries Science discipline.
• NET Qualification: You must have cleared NET conducted by ASRB, UGC, or CSIR along with one publication in a NAAS-rated journal.
• NET Exemption: If you hold a Ph.D. with UGC 2009 coursework and have at least 2 full-length publications with NAAS rating of 4 or above, NET is not required.
• Reservation: This post is reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
• Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen.

For Assistant - KVK (Pay Matrix Level 6 — Rs. 35,400/month):

• Essential Qualification: A Bachelor's Degree from a recognised university.
• Desirable: Experience in office administrative work, KVK, or Extension Education projects. A Master's degree is also preferred.
• Local Language: Knowledge of Tamil is essential.
• Nature of Duties: You will perform office administrative work at the KVK.
• Note: This is a co-terminus post funded 100% by ICAR. Pay scale, allowances, and service benefits will follow ICAR norms.

Age Limit

• Assistant (KVK): You should be between 18 and 32 years old as on 30 March 2026.
• Assistant Professor: No specific age limit mentioned in the notification. Retirement age is 60 years.
• Age Relaxation: Relaxation of age as per Tamil Nadu State Government rules is applicable for reserved categories.

Salary

• Assistant Professor: Pay of Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 per month under Academic Level 10.
• Assistant (KVK): Pay of Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month under Pay Matrix Level 6.
• You will also get DA, HRA, and other allowances as per government and ICAR rules.

• For Assistant Professor: Rs. 1,000 for all categories. TNJFU employees are exempted.
• For Assistant (KVK) — General / OBC / Others: Rs. 1,000
• For Assistant (KVK) — SC / ST: Rs. 500
• Payment Mode: Crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour of "The Finance Officer, Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam" payable at Nagapattinam.
• Applications without the Demand Draft will be rejected.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written examination for either post. Selection will be done through:

1. Screening by Committee: A Screening Committee will shortlist eligible candidates based on qualifications, publications, and experience.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will appear before the University Staff Selection Committee for a personal interview at their own cost.
3. Document Verification: You must bring all original certificates and testimonials at the time of interview.

The university reserves the right to not fill up any or all of the advertised posts.
