AIIMS New Delhi is hiring 1 Senior Research Fellow (SRF) (non-medical) at the Dr. R.P. Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences. AIIMS Delhi SRF (Optometry) Recruitment 2026 — 1 Post

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi, through the Dr. R.P. Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, has announced a vacancy for 1 Senior Research Fellow (SRF) (non-medical) under the research project titled "Development and standardization of corneal cross-linking device for the management of corneal infections". This is a 2-year contract position funded under BIRAC norms. The post is ideal for candidates with a background in Optometry, Ophthalmic Sciences, or Life Sciences who wish to contribute to cutting-edge eye care research at one of India's premier medical institutions.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification (any one of the following):

  • M.Sc in Optometry or Ophthalmic Sciences from a recognised university/institution with 2 years of Research Experience
  • M.Sc in Life Sciences or any related discipline with 2 years of Research Experience

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in animal handling

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 32 years
  • Age relaxation for reserved categories as per AIIMS/Government of India rules

Salary

  • Salary will be paid as per BIRAC norms (Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council)
  • This is a project-funded fellowship — exact amount depends on BIRAC guidelines applicable at the time of joining

Responsibilities

  • Assist in executing research protocols for the corneal cross-linking device project
  • Conduct optometric assessments and record patient/subject data accurately
  • Handle laboratory samples, equipment, and experimental animals as required by the project
  • Maintain detailed research records, lab notebooks, and data logs
  • Prepare research reports, summaries, and contribute to manuscript/publication writing
  • Follow AIIMS safety protocols and ethical guidelines for research involving humans and animals
  • Coordinate with the principal investigator and other team members on daily research activities

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

M.Sc in Optometry/Ophthalmic Sciences or Life Sciences with 2 years research experience

Preferred Qualification

Prior experience in animal handling

Required Skills

Research methodology, optometric assessment, laboratory skills

18 - 32 years
