AIIMS Madurai Senior Resident (Non-Academic) Recruitment 2026 - 7 Posts

All India Institute of Medical Sciences Madurai (AIIMS Madurai), Tamil Nadu, has invited applications for 7 Senior Resident (Non-Academic) posts under the Government of India Residency Scheme. AIIMS Madurai is one of the new AIIMS being set up under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) and is mentored by JIPMER, Puducherry. This is a tenure post for up to 3 years, with the initial appointment being for 1 year, extendable based on performance. Doctors with a postgraduate medical degree in Pharmacology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Physiology, Anatomy, Paediatrics, or General Surgery should apply.

Who Can Apply?

For Medical Departments (Pharmacology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Paediatrics, General Surgery):

• Qualification: You need a postgraduate medical degree (M.D./M.S./DNB) in the concerned specialty from a recognized university or institute.
• Registration: MCI / NMC / State Medical Council registration is mandatory before joining.

For Anatomy (Medical Stream):

• Qualification: M.D. in Anatomy from a recognized university or institute.
• Registration: MCI / NMC / State Medical Council registration is mandatory.

For Anatomy (Non-Medical Stream):

• Qualification: M.Sc. in Medical Anatomy from a recognized university, plus Ph.D. in Medical Anatomy.

For Physiology (Medical Stream):

• Qualification: M.D. in Physiology from a recognized university or institute.
• Registration: MCI / NMC / State Medical Council registration is mandatory.

For Physiology (Non-Medical Stream):

• Qualification: Master's Degree in Medical Physiology from a recognized university, plus Ph.D. from a recognized institution.

DNB Equivalence:

• Candidates with DNB in broad specialties must provide documentary evidence of equivalence with MD/MS as per NMC notification dated 30.06.2025.
• DNB training must have been in a medical institution with a hospital of 500+ beds recognized by NBE, OR the candidate must have completed 1 year of senior residency in an NMC-recognized medical college after passing DNB.

You must have completed your qualifying degree exam on or before the closing date of application (10 April 2026).

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 45 years as on the closing date of online application (10 April 2026).
• Age Relaxation:
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years (for posts reserved for OBC)
• SC / ST: 5 years (for posts reserved for SC/ST)
• PwBD: 5 years (irrespective of whether the post is reserved for PwBD or not)
• Government Servants: 5 years as per DoPT guidelines (with 3 years continuous service)
• Ex-Serviceman: As per DoPT guidelines

No age relaxation is available for SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates applying for unreserved vacancies.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get Rs. 67,700 per month (entry pay at Level 11 of the 7th Central Pay Commission).
• You will also get DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Central Government rules.
• NPA (Non-Practicing Allowance) may be applicable for medical graduates.

Note: Senior Residents are not entitled to Provident Fund, Pension, Gratuity, or Medical Attendance Treatment benefits available to regular government servants.

Application Fee

• UR / OBC / EWS: Rs. 500 + transaction charges
• SC / ST / PwBD / Women: No fee (exempted)
• Payment mode: SBI Collect only (online payment through SBI Net Banking, other bank net banking, credit card, or debit card)
• No other payment mode (cheque, DD, cash, etc.) will be accepted.
• Fee is non-refundable.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Document Verification and Screening of Applications: Your application and documents will be verified first. Shortlisting may be done based on educational qualification, additional qualifications, experience, and caste/category.
2. Written Test / Interview: If a large number of applications are received, a written test may be conducted to shortlist candidates for the interview. The interview will be held at AIIMS Madurai or at any other place decided by the Executive Director.

Dates for reporting, document verification, and written test/interview will be intimated later on the AIIMS Madurai website. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test or interview.

2. Pay the application fee of Rs. 500 through SBI Collect (search for "All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Madurai" under GOVT/PSU/COURTS category).
3. Fill in the Google Form linked on the vacancy page with your details.
4. Download and fill in the prescribed Application Form available on the website.
5. Note down your SBI Collect transaction ID and payment date, and mention them in the application form.
6. Do NOT send any hardcopy at this stage. Shortlisted candidates will bring the filled application form along with self-attested documents at the time of interview.

• Provide clinical care to patients in the assigned department under the supervision of faculty members
• Assist in conducting surgeries, procedures, and OPD duties as per departmental rotation
• Work in shifts including night duty and emergency calls as required by the hospital
• Maintain patient records, case histories, and discharge summaries accurately
• Participate in academic activities such as case presentations, journal clubs, and CME programs
• Support teaching and training of junior residents and medical students when assigned
• Follow all institute rules, hospital protocols, and infection control guidelines
