All India Institute of Medical Sciences Patna (AIIMS Patna) has released Advertisement No. 2026/1 dated 20 March 2026 for direct recruitment to 86 faculty positions across various clinical and pre/para-clinical departments. AIIMS Patna is an Institute of National Importance established under the AIIMS (Amendment) Act, 2012, operating under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna. Who Can Apply?

For Assistant Professor

• Medical Qualification: MBBS degree recognised under the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956
• Postgraduate: MD/MS/DM/MCh in the relevant specialty or recognised equivalent
• Experience (Broad Specialties): 3 years teaching or research experience in a recognised institution after obtaining the qualifying PG degree
• Experience (Super Specialties): 1 year experience after DM/MCh (2-year or 5-year course). No experience needed if you hold a 3-year or 6-year recognised DM/MCh degree
• Non-medical candidates are eligible for certain departments (Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Physiology) with a Master's degree, Doctorate, and 3 years of post-doctoral experience

For Associate Professor

• Experience (General Discipline): 6 years teaching or research experience after MD/MS
• Experience (Super Specialty): 4 years after DM/MCh (2/5-year course) or 3 years after 3-year recognised DM/MCh
• Non-Medical: 6 years experience after Doctorate degree

For Additional Professor

• Experience (General Discipline): 10 years teaching or research experience after MD/MS
• Experience (Super Specialty): 8 years after DM/MCh (2/5-year course) or 7 years after 3-year recognised DM/MCh
• Non-Medical: 10 years experience after Doctorate degree

For Professor

• Experience (General Discipline): 14 years teaching or research experience after MD/MS
• Experience (Super Specialty): 12 years after DM/MCh (2/5-year course) or 11 years after 3-year recognised DM/MCh
• Non-Medical: 14 years experience after Doctorate degree

Note: DNB holders must produce documentary evidence of equivalence with MD/MS/DM/MCh as per MCI notification dated 31.10.2018. Experience must be from INI or NMC/MCI-recognised teaching institutions.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 50 years for all posts
• Age will be calculated as on the cut-off date (4 May 2026)
• SC/ST: 5 years relaxation
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years relaxation
• PwBD: 10 years relaxation
• Central Government Servant: 5 years relaxation
• Ex-Serviceman: 5 years relaxation
• Maximum age after relaxation shall not exceed 55 years

Salary

• Professor: Level 14A — Rs. 1,68,900 to Rs. 2,20,400 per month
• Additional Professor: Level 13A2+ — Rs. 1,48,200 to Rs. 2,11,400 per month
• Associate Professor: Level 13A1+ — Rs. 1,38,300 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month
• Assistant Professor: Level 12 — Rs. 1,01,500 to Rs. 1,67,400 per month
• Medical candidates will also receive Non-Practising Allowance (NPA)
• Plus DA, HRA, and other allowances as admissible to Central Government employees posted in Patna, Bihar

Selection Process

Selection will be done through interview. There is no written examination for these faculty posts:

1. Eligibility Check: Your application will be reviewed to verify that you meet all essential qualifications and experience requirements as on the cut-off date
2. Objective Screening: If the number of applicants exceeds 10 for a particular post, an objective screening score may be used to shortlist candidates
3. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must bring original certificates, mark sheets, experience letters, caste certificates (if applicable), and NOC from current employer
4. Personal Interview: Final selection is based on performance in the interview at AIIMS Patna

The period of probation for all faculty posts is 2 years. These are whole-time posts and private practice is prohibited.
