BRIC-NABI Project Associate and Project Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 3 Posts
BRIC-National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (BRIC-NABI), an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, has released Advertisement No. NABI/Admin/5(09)/2026-27/Academic-2 inviting research personnel for two industry-sponsored projects with Nuziveedu Seeds. The work involves speed breeding of maize, cotton and rice at the Food and Nutritional Biotechnology Division. There is no written exam — selection is by walk-in interview based on academic merit and research experience.
Vacancy Breakdown
- Project Associate-I (1 post): Speed breeding protocols for maize and cotton genotypes. Duration 11 months. Salary Rs. 37,200/month.
- Project Associate-II (1 post): Marker-assisted backcrossing (MABC) in rice for HT trait. Duration 18 months. Salary Rs. 47,000/month.
- Project Assistant (1 post): Support role on the rice MABC project. Duration 18 months. Salary Rs. 24,000/month.

Who Can Apply?
Project Associate-I (Rs. 37,200/month)
- Qualification: Master's degree from a recognised University/Institute in Life Sciences, Agricultural Science, Biotechnology or any allied subjects (as per DST OM SR/S9/Z-05/2019).
- Desirable: Working experience in a speed breeding facility, knowledge of crop genetics and breeding (especially cotton and maize), field phenotyping, and molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, qRT-PCR, hormone estimation and bioinformatics.
Project Associate-II (Rs. 47,000/month)
- Qualification: Master's degree in Life Sciences, Agricultural Science, Biotechnology or allied subjects.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years R&D experience in industrial/academic institutions or science and technology organisations.
- Desirable: Experience in rice breeding, backcrossing population development, marker-assisted selection, SSR/SNP DNA markers, and speed breeding facilities.
Project Assistant (Rs. 24,000/month)
- Qualification: B.Sc in Life Sciences or Agriculture.
- Desirable: Experience in rice breeding or field research, knowledge of SSR/SNP DNA marker systems, and prior work in a speed breeding facility.
Age Limit
- Project Associate-I: Maximum 35 years
- Project Associate-II: Maximum 35 years
- Project Assistant: Maximum 50 years
- Age Relaxation: As per Government of India rules for SC/ST/OBC/PwD and women candidates.
Salary
- Project Associate-I: Rs. 31,000 + 20% HRA = Rs. 37,200 per month
- Project Associate-II: Rs. 35,000 + 20% HRA + (as DST norms) = Rs. 47,000 per month
- Project Assistant: Rs. 20,000 + 20% HRA = Rs. 24,000 per month
- Pay is as per DST OM SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated 21 August 2019.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection is purely through walk-in/online interview based on academic merit and research experience.

Responsibilities
- Work on industry-sponsored speed breeding projects for maize, cotton and rice in collaboration with Nuziveedu Seeds
- Conduct DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, qRT-PCR and other molecular biology assays
- Carry out marker-assisted selection using SSR and SNP markers in rice backcross populations
- Maintain field and greenhouse experiments under the speed breeding platform
- Record and analyse phenotypic and genotypic data from breeding experiments
- Prepare progress reports, presentations and research data for the project investigator
- Assist senior researchers with planning, execution and documentation of project milestones
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
B.Sc in Life Sciences/Agriculture (Project Assistant) or Master's in Life Sciences/Agricultural Science/Biotechnology (Project Associate-I/II)
Preferred Qualification
Experience in speed breeding, molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, qRT-PCR), marker-assisted selection, and crop breeding (especially maize, cotton, rice)
Required Skills
