About This Job

The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Latehar has released Advertisement No. 01/2026 to build a panel of Support Persons under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and Rules, 2020. If you have a graduate or post-graduate degree with experience in child welfare, social work, or law, this is your chance to work directly with child victims and the justice system. DCPU Latehar Support Person (POCSO) Recruitment 2026

The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Latehar, through its District Child Protection Unit (Bal Sanrakshan Ekai), is forming a panel of Support Persons at the district level. This is under the directions of the Secretary, Women, Child Development and Social Security Department, Government of Jharkhand (Notification No. 2685 dated 24.10.2024 and Notification No. 526/SP-POCSO/JSCPS/2023-24-124 dated 15.01.2026). Support Persons play a key role in helping children who are victims of sexual offences by providing emotional support, helping them through the legal process, and ensuring their rights are protected under Section 39 of the POCSO Act.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

  • Graduate or Post-Graduate in Arts, Commerce, Science, Law, Psychology, Social Work, or Psycho-science from a recognized university
  • Or a degree in any faculty with at least 2 years of experience in a related field

Work Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of desirable experience in child protection, child welfare, legal work, social work, psychology, social science, or counseling
  • Preferred: At least 1 year of experience working with DLSA/JHALSA/DCPU/CWC/JJB/POCSO courts

Important Note

  • Experience certificates from the employer must be original — no photocopies of experience, military service, or other experience will be accepted as valid proof
  • Local candidates from Latehar district will be given priority in panel formation

Age Limit

  • Minimum age: 35 years
  • Maximum age: 60 years
  • Age as on: Date of publication of the advertisement (29 March 2026)

Compensation

  • Per case fee: Minimum Rs. 5,000 per case
  • Payment is on a per-case basis, not a fixed monthly salary
  • Fees are paid as per Notification No. 526/SP-POCSO/JSCPS/2023-24-525, dated 09.05.2025, under the M.D. and S.D. (H.D.) framework
  • No TA/DA will be provided for attending interview or any related purpose

Selection Process

  1. Shortlisting: Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will be shortlisted by the Selection Committee

Scoring System (Total: 50 Marks)

  • Educational Qualification (10 marks): Graduate = 6 marks, Post-Graduate = 3 marks, Other = 1 mark
  • Work Experience (10 marks max): Maximum 10 marks per year of relevant experience
  • Interview (30 marks max): Based on interaction and assessment of candidate's suitability

Panel Details

  • The panel will be formed for a period of maximum 3 years
  • Performance will be reviewed annually by the Selection Committee
  • The panel must have 60% female and 40% male members
  • If female candidates are not available, male candidates can be considered
  • A criminal background check will be conducted for all shortlisted Support Persons through local police verification
  • Each Support Person handles a maximum of 10 cases at a time (up to 20 in exceptional cases with DM approval)

Responsibilities

  • Assist child victims of sexual offences throughout the investigation and trial process under the POCSO Act
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to the child and their family during court proceedings
  • Follow the guidelines and directions issued by the DCPO and the Selection Committee for case handling
  • Keep the child informed about the progress of the case in a child-friendly manner
  • Work with DLSA, CWC, JJB, and POCSO courts to ensure the child's rights are protected
  • Manage case records and maintain confidentiality of all case details
  • Assist in coordinating healthcare, counseling, and rehabilitation services for the child victim
  • Prepare reports and provide updates to the District Child Protection Officer as required

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Graduate or Post-Graduate in Arts/Commerce/Science/Law/Psychology/Social Work (or any degree with 2 years relevant experience)

Preferred Qualification

Post-Graduate degree with 1+ year experience in DLSA/JHALSA/DCPU/CWC/JJB/POCSO courts

Required Skills
