The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), Lucknow is hiring on behalf of the Excise Department, Uttar Pradesh to fill the direct recruitment post of Aabkari Sipahi (Excise Constable). This is a permanent Group C uniformed post with full pay scale benefits under the UP Excise, Driver and Tadi Supervisor Service Rules, 1983 (as amended). Only candidates who qualified PET 2025 with a valid scorecard can apply.

Who Can Apply?

You must be a native of Uttar Pradesh (candidates from other states can apply but will be treated as Unreserved) and meet the following:

  • Essential Qualification: You must have passed Intermediate (10+2) from the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad or an equivalent recognised board
  • PET 2025: You must hold a valid UPSSSC PET 2025 scorecard with a score greater than zero (candidates with zero or negative normalised score will not be shortlisted)
  • Preference: You get preference if you have served 2 years in Territorial Army OR hold an NCC 'B' Certificate

Age Limit

  • Minimum age: 18 years (as on 1 July 2026)
  • Maximum age: 40 years (as on 1 July 2026)
  • Age reference date: 1 July 2026
  • Age relaxation of 5 years for SC, ST, OBC and other reserved categories of Uttar Pradesh as per UP Government rules

Salary

Physical Standards

Male Candidates

  • Height: Minimum 167.6 cm
  • Chest: Minimum 80 cm (unexpanded) and 85 cm (expanded)

Female Candidates

  • Weight: Minimum 45 kg
  • Height (General): Minimum 152 cm
  • Height (SC/ST): Minimum 147 cm

Physical Efficiency Test (PET - Running)

  • Male: 4.8 km run in 25 minutes
  • Female: 2.4 km run in 14 minutes
  • Candidates who fail to complete the run within the prescribed time will be disqualified

Selection Process

  1. PET 2025 Shortlisting: Shortlisting done based on normalised PET 2025 score — up to 15 times the number of category-wise vacancies
  2. Main Written Examination: 100 objective questions for 100 marks in 120 minutes, with 0.25 negative marking per wrong answer
  3. Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Height, chest and weight check (qualifying in nature)
  4. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Running test — 4.8 km / 2.4 km (qualifying in nature)
  5. Document Verification

Final selection is based on your Main Written Examination marks. PMT and PET are only qualifying.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned excise beats and prevent illegal manufacture, sale and transport of liquor and narcotic substances
  • Assist in raids and enforcement operations under the United Provinces Excise Act, 1910
  • Seize illegal liquor, country spirits and intoxicants and maintain seizure records
  • Keep watch on licensed excise shops and ensure compliance with UP Excise Policy 2025-26
  • Support Excise Inspectors during inspections of distilleries, bonded warehouses and vendors
  • Prepare daily duty reports, seizure memos and case files
  • Handle weapons and excise equipment as per department rules
  • Follow orders of senior officers and maintain law and order at excise posts

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Exam Pattern

The UPSSSC Excise Constable Main Written Examination is a single objective-type paper with 100 multiple choice questions for 100 marks, to be solved in 120 minutes (2 hours). There is negative marking of 0.25 marks (1/4) for every wrong answer.

The exam is divided into 3 parts:

Part 1 (70 marks)

  • History of India and Indian National Movement: 5 questions, 5 marks
  • Geography of India and World: 5 questions, 5 marks
  • Economic and Social Development of India: 10 questions, 10 marks
  • Indian Polity and Indian Constitution: 10 questions, 10 marks
