DGPM CBIC Additional Assistant Director Recruitment 2026 - 172 Posts
The Directorate General of Performance Management (DGPM), which serves as the cadre control authority for several Group B and C cadres under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), has invited applications from eligible government officers for 172 Additional Assistant Director posts on deputation basis. These officers will be posted across 18 Directorates spread throughout India that handle critical functions such as tax evasion investigations, audit, legal affairs, data analytics, and human resource management. Who Can Apply?

Service Criteria (any one of these):
- Analogous Post: You should be holding an analogous post (same level) on regular basis in your parent cadre or department.
- Level-7 Officers: You should have at least 2 years of regular service in a post at Pay Matrix Level-7 (Rs. 44,900-1,42,400) or equivalent.
Education and Experience:
- Qualification: You must hold a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university or institute.
- Experience: You need at least 3 years of experience in any of the following areas: levy, assessment, and collection of Customs duty or Central Excise duties; Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Integrated GST matters; intelligence and investigation work; enforcement of border control on goods; dispute resolution including drafting of Show Cause Notices, adjudication, and appeals; or audit of assessments for tax compliance.
Note: Departmental officers who are in the direct line of promotion for this post are not eligible for deputation. Similarly, officers joining on deputation will not be considered for promotion.
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 56 years as on the last date of receipt of applications (i.e., 12 May 2026).
- The deputation period, including any previous ex-cadre deputation, shall ordinarily not exceed 3 years.
Salary
- You will be placed at Pay Matrix Level-8 (Rs. 47,600 to Rs. 1,51,100 per month).
- After completing 4 years of regular service in Level-8, you will be upgraded to Pay Matrix Level-9 (Rs. 53,100 to Rs. 1,67,800 per month).
- You will also receive DA, HRA, Transport Allowance, and other allowances as admissible under Central Government orders from time to time.

Posting Locations

Responsibilities
- Assist the Board in policy matters related to GST policy, export promotion schemes, and valuation rules.
- Carry out detection and investigation of commercial frauds, customs duty evasion, GST evasion, and curbing of illicit trade including drug trafficking and other contraband activities.
- Conduct inspection of field formations under CBIC to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Assist in planning, development, and maintenance of the department's automated systems and IT infrastructure.
- Handle publicity campaigns for public awareness about CGST, Central Excise, and Customs regulations.
- Investigate matters related to anti-profiteering under GST and prepare reports for the authorities.
- Manage manpower planning and infrastructure requirements across CBIC Directorates.
- Provide intelligence inputs and carry out big data analytics for CBIC's enforcement operations.
- Monitor logistical requirements of field formations related to anti-smuggling, communication, and marine operations.
- Assist in presenting indirect taxation cases before the Tribunal and coordinate with the Law Ministry on legal issues.
- Carry out vigilance investigations and examine vigilance complaints within the organization.
- Handle general administrative work as assigned by the Directorate.
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University with 3 years experience in Customs/Excise/GST

Experience in investigation, audit, data analytics, or legal matters related to indirect taxes
