DRDL Hyderabad is hiring 16 Junior Research Fellows (JRF) in three engineering disciplines under DRDO. If you have a B.Tech/B.E (First Class) with a valid GATE score or an M.E/M.Tech (First Class), you can attend the walk-in interview from 01 to 05 June 2026 at DLOMI, DRDO Township, Kanchanbagh, Hyderabad. You will receive a stipend of Rs. 37,000 per month plus HRA. The upper age limit is 28 years as on the closing date of the interview.

DRDL Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026 - 16 Posts

Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), one of the premier missile systems research labs under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has invited applications for 16 Junior Research Fellow posts in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, and Electronics Communication Engineering. Selection is through a walk-in interview at the DRDO Township in Kanchanbagh, Hyderabad. Freshers with First Class B.Tech and a valid GATE score, or M.Tech holders, can apply. This is a research fellowship, not a regular DRDO job — the offer does not confer any right of absorption in DRDO.

Who Can Apply?

JRF-01 (Mechanical Engineering) - 9 Posts

• B.Tech/B.E with First Class in Mechanical Engineering from a UGC-recognised University with a valid GATE score (Paper code: ME)
• OR M.E/M.Tech with First Class in Mechanical Engineering AND B.Tech/B.E (Mechanical Engineering) with First Class from a UGC-recognised University

JRF-02 (Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering) - 4 Posts

• B.Tech/B.E with First Class in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering from a UGC-recognised University with a valid GATE score (Paper code: AE)
• OR M.E/M.Tech with First Class in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering AND B.Tech/B.E in the same discipline with First Class

JRF-03 (Electronics Communication Engineering) - 3 Posts

• B.Tech/B.E with First Class in Electronics Communication Engineering from a UGC-recognised University with a valid GATE score (Paper code: ECE)
• OR M.E/M.Tech with First Class in Electronics Communication Engineering AND B.Tech/B.E in the same discipline with First Class

Other Requirements

• Only Indian Nationals are eligible
• Only candidates who have been awarded a Degree/Provisional Certificate can apply
• Working experience in the area of the subject will be preferred
• You must submit a supporting document for converting CGPA/CPI to percentage from your University

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 28 years as on the closing date of interview/advertisement
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation; OBC candidates get 3 years relaxation

Salary

• Monthly stipend: Rs. 37,000 per month as per DRDO rules
• Plus HRA as per DRDO rules
• Medical facilities for self only through the DRDO MI Room
• Tenure: Initially 2 years, extendable for another 2 years subject to Internal Screening Committee recommendations
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview or for joining if selected

Selection Process (Walk-In Interview)

Selection is through walk-in interview only. No written exam.

1. Shortlisting: Eligible candidates will be shortlisted based on valid GATE score and percentage of marks obtained in the minimum qualifying degree
2. Walk-In Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Selection Committee at the DRDO venue

GATE paper and subject of the qualifying degree must be related to the discipline against which you are applying. Candidates already working in Govt. or Govt.-owned organisations must produce an NOC at the time of the interview.

3. Attach self-attested copies of Date of Birth Certificate, Degree/Provisional Certificate with Marks Memos, GATE Score Card, Caste Certificate, NOC (if employed), and other testimonials

5. Carry the filled application and two passport size photographs along with original certificates to the walk-in interview

7. Reporting time: 0900 Hrs to 0930 Hrs on your interview date (candidates coming after reporting time will not be considered)

• Carry out defence-related research in missile systems under the guidance of DRDL scientists
• Work on assigned R&D projects in Mechanical, Aeronautical/Aerospace, or Electronics Communication Engineering
• Conduct experiments, simulations, and analysis as per project requirements
• Prepare technical reports, design documents, and research papers
• Assist senior scientists in design, development, and testing of missile sub-systems
• Present research findings in internal reviews and committee meetings
• Maintain laboratory equipment and follow DRDO safety guidelines
