The Government General Hospital, Nellore (under Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh) has released notification No. 01/2026 (Rc.No.6097/E1/2025, dated 26.03.2026) for recruiting manpower at its Alcohol and Drug De-Addiction Centre. Who Can Apply?

Doctor (Full Time)

  • MBBS with registration from a recognized Medical Council / Medical Commission
  • Must undergo training arranged by MOSJE / NISD within 3 months of joining the IRCA

Project Coordinator-cum-Vocational Counsellor

  • Graduate with experience of managing such centres for a minimum of 3 years
  • Must have demonstrable capability for running such centres and working knowledge of computers

Counsellor / Social Worker / Psychologist

  • Graduate in Social Sciences, preferably in Social Work or Psychology
  • 1-2 years of experience in the field
  • Must know English and one regional language
  • Preference for candidates with a certificate of Training Course in De-Addiction Counselling from a recognized institution

Nurse

  • Qualified nurse with GNM or B.Sc Nursing degree
  • Should be willing to undergo training by MSJ & E

Ward Boy

  • Class 8th pass
  • Experience of working in Hospitals / Health Care Centres / De-Addiction Centres

Accountant-cum-Clerk

  • Graduate with knowledge of accounts and working knowledge of computers

Peer Educator

  • Should be literate Ex-drug user with 1-2 years of sobriety
  • Willing to work among drug-using population
  • Must have communication skills
  • Agrees to refrain from buying or selling drugs and work for prevention of harmful drug use and relapse

Chowkidar

Selection Process

Selection is purely based on merit. There is no written exam. Here is how marks are calculated:

  1. Academic / Qualifying Marks — 90 marks: 90% of the total 100 marks will be based on aggregate marks you scored in your qualifying examination or equivalent qualification
  2. Experience Marks — up to 10 marks: You can get up to 10 marks for completed years of experience after getting the required qualification (1 mark per year of experience)

Total Marks: 100

The District Selection Committee reserves the right to terminate the contract of any candidate at any time with one month notice.

  • Assist in counselling sessions, vocational guidance, and rehabilitation activities for patients
  • Keep accurate medical records, patient files, and administrative documentation
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, hygienic environment at the centre
  • Work with the medical team to provide round-the-clock patient care and monitoring
  • Manage accounts, finances, and correspondence related to the centre's operations
  • Prepare reports and documentation as required by the Superintendent and government authorities
  • Monitor patients, maintain security, and assist in day-to-day functioning of the centre
