About This Job

Himachal Pradesh Rajya Chayan Aayog (HPRCA) has released notification for 600 Junior Basic Teacher (Job Trainee) posts. Candidates with 10+2 and JBT/D.El.Ed diploma along with TET qualification can apply online. Last date to apply is 06 April 2026. Age limit is 18 to 45 years. These are state cadre posts under the Directorate of School Education, Shimla.

With 600 teaching positions up for grabs, the Himachal Pradesh Rajya Chayan Aayog (HPRCA) has opened one of the biggest JBT recruitment drives this year. If you hold a JBT or D.El.Ed diploma and have cleared the HP TET, this is your chance to start a career in government school teaching across all 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh.

Key Highlights

  • 600 vacancies across all districts -- Mandi (106) and Kangra (102) have the most seats
  • These are State Cadre posts -- you could be posted at any CBSE-affiliated HP Government School
  • HP TET pass is mandatory -- conducted by HPBOSE Dharamshala or authorized agency
  • Candidates must have passed Matriculation and 10+2 from a school within Himachal Pradesh -- Bonafide Himachalis are exempt from this condition
  • Recruitment governed by the Job Trainee Policy of Department of Personnel, HP
  • Appointing and Disciplinary Authority: Director, School Education, HP

Selection Process

Selection is based entirely on a Computer Based Test (CBT) of 120 objective-type questions, each carrying 1 mark, to be completed in 1.5 hours. The exam covers your subject knowledge up to the prescribed qualification level, along with General Knowledge (including HP GK), Current Affairs, Everyday Science, Logical Reasoning, Social Science, General English, and General Hindi at Matric standard. You need at least 45% marks to qualify if you are a General category candidate, or 40% for SC/ST/OBC/WFF categories. If the exam happens in multiple shifts, scores will be normalized using the Z-Score method.

Preparation Tips for HPRCA JBT Exam

  1. Focus on your core teaching subjects -- questions will test knowledge up to the level of your JBT/D.El.Ed curriculum
  2. Study Himachal Pradesh General Knowledge thoroughly -- HP GK questions are a major scoring area in HPRCA exams
  3. Revise Current Affairs from the last 6 months -- both national and HP state-level events
  4. Practice Logical Reasoning and Everyday Science -- these sections are scoring if you practice regularly
  5. Time yourself strictly -- you get only 90 minutes for 120 questions, which means just 45 seconds per question
  6. Use the official practice centre -- HPRCA provides an online mock test link to familiarize you with the CBT pattern
