About This Job

ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) is hiring 1 Young Professional-I for its Field Laboratory in Kavaratti, Lakshadweep. This is a contract position for 2 years (or until the project ends, whichever comes first) under a NABARD-funded project on seaweed farming. You will get a fixed salary of Rs. 30,000 per month. ICAR-CMFRI, India's leading marine fisheries research institute under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, has announced this recruitment for its Kavaratti campus. The selected candidate will work on the project titled "Advancing Seaweed Farming through Technology Transfer and Demonstration in Lakshadweep". This is a great chance for graduates in aquaculture or biological sciences to gain hands-on research experience in one of India's most beautiful island territories.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

• B.F.Sc (Bachelor of Fisheries Science) or BSc in Aquaculture or any other equivalent branch of biological science

Desirable Qualification

• M.F.Sc or M.Sc with specialization in Aquaculture
• Prior experience in seaweed farming will be preferred
• Candidates skilled in swimming will get extra preference

Age Limit

• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum Age: 45 years
• Age relaxation available as per Government of India rules for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD and other reserved categories
• Age will be calculated as on the date of interview

Salary

• Monthly Salary: Rs. 30,000/- (fixed)
• This is a consolidated pay with no separate allowances

Selection Process

1. Shortlisting: Based on your application and qualifications submitted through the Google Form
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview at ICAR-CMFRI Field Laboratory, KVK-Lakshadweep Campus, Kavaratti. The interview date and time will be communicated via email

Important: No TA/DA will be paid for appearing at the interview.

2. Upload scanned copies of all original certificates starting from matriculation (10th class)
3. Fill and upload the Declaration forms (Annexure-I and Annexure-II) — these are available in the official notification PDF
4. If you are currently employed, get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your present employer
5. If your marks are in CGPA/OGPA format, keep an approved conversion table ready for the interview
6. Submit the form on or before 17 April 2026

• Assist in seaweed farming technology transfer and demonstration activities in Lakshadweep
• Handle field-level data collection and documentation for the NABARD-funded project
• Work with local fishing communities to promote seaweed cultivation techniques
• Prepare periodic progress reports and maintain project records
• Monitor seaweed farming trials and record growth parameters
• Assist the Principal Investigator in organizing training programs and workshops
