ICAR-National Institute of Plant Biotechnology (ICAR-NIPB), New Delhi, has released notification (Advt. no. 2001-3124/YP-II/214011) for engagement of 1 Young Professional-II on a contractual basis under the AICRP on Biotech Crops project. The engagement runs from the date of appointment to 30 September 2026 or termination of the project, whichever is earlier. Selection is purely through a walk-in interview at LBS Building, Pusa Campus, New Delhi-110012.

Who Can Apply?

• Essential Qualification: Post Graduate degree or B.Tech in Botany / Molecular Biology / Biotechnology / Agricultural Biotechnology
• Desirable: Two years of experience in plant transformation, sound knowledge of designing constructs for gene editing and molecular characterization of transgenic plants
• Only Indian Nationals can apply
• If currently employed, you must produce a No-Objection Certificate

Age Limit

• Lower age limit: 21 years
• Upper age limit: 45 years
• Age will be reckoned as on 14 May 2026 (the date of interview)
• Age limits are as per ICAR guidelines for Young Professional-II

Salary

• Fixed consolidated pay: Rs. 42,000 per month
• No additional allowances are payable
• No TA/DA will be given for appearing in the interview

Selection Process

Selection is done through a single-stage walk-in interview:

1. Document Verification: Original certificates including educational qualifications, experience and category certificates are verified at the venue.
2. Personal Interview: Candidates with essential qualifications are called for the interview.

Number of posts may increase or decrease depending on the requirement of the Institute and ongoing projects with the same essential qualification.

2. Attend the walk-in interview at LBS Building, Pusa Campus, ICAR-NIPB, New Delhi-110012 on 14 May 2026.
3. Reach the venue at 9:30 AM for registration (be present at least 60 minutes before the 11:00 AM reporting time).
4. Carry 24 copies of the application form and 2 self-attested copies of all documents related to qualifications, experience and publications.
5. Bring all original documents (10th, 12th, Graduation, PG mark sheets and certificates, ID proof, experience certificates, NOC if applicable) for verification.
6. Complete the interview process — your candidature is liable to be cancelled if originals are not produced.

• Carry out plant transformation experiments under the AICRP on Biotech Crops project
• Design molecular constructs for gene editing in target plant species
• Perform molecular characterization of transgenic plants using PCR, Southern blot and sequencing
• Maintain plant tissue culture lines and laboratory records as per ICAR norms
• Assist Principal Investigator with project documentation and progress reports
• Handle laboratory chemicals, equipment and samples following safety protocols
• Support data analysis and contribute to research publications when required
