Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), one of India's premier engineering institutions established in 2008 under the Ministry of Education, has released Advertisement No. IP/12162/Advt0160 for the post of Assistant IT Officer. This is a contractual position in the IMS division, ideal for experienced full-stack developers who want to work at a top IIT campus in Gujarat.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

You need one of the following:

• M.Tech in Computer Science or Information Technology (regular mode) with at least 6 years of post-qualification experience in software development at a reputed organization or industry
• B.Tech / B.E. in Computer Science & Engineering / IT (regular), or MCA / M.Sc. (IT), or equivalent professional qualification with at least 8 years of post-qualification experience in software development at a reputed organization or industry

Percentage Requirements

• 60% or equivalent grade from graduation onwards
• 55% or equivalent grade in Class 10th and 12th

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 40 years as on the last date of application (19 April 2026)
• Relaxation of age may be considered for exceptionally meritorious candidates with prior approval of IIT Gandhinagar

Salary

• Monthly consolidated pay: Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 1,15,000
• This is a contractual post for 1 year, extendible on an annual basis based on your yearly performance

Required Skills

You should be a full-stack developer with hands-on experience in:

• Backend: C#, .NET Core, Core PHP, Laravel 7, Web API, REST API, web services
• Frontend: Vue.js, JavaScript, XHTML, HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, AJAX, JSON, Bootstrap, Angular, TypeScript
• Databases: MySQL, MS SQL, jQuery — including writing queries, joins, stored procedures, triggers, and performance optimization
• DevOps & CI/CD: GitHub, SVN, MS Visio, Gantt charts, and related tools
• Security: Secure coding principles, data compliance and security practices
• Nice to have: MongoDB, Node.js, React.js, Angular.js, Moodle CMS
• Soft skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills

Selection Process

The selection has 3 stages:

1. Shortlisting: Your application will be screened based on qualifications and experience. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee a call for the test.
2. Assessment Test (MCQ): Shortlisted candidates will take a multiple-choice question test conducted by the IMS team at IITGN.
3. Practical Test: After the MCQ, you will face a practical test to demonstrate your coding and technical skills.

The selection committee's decision is final and binding. IITGN reserves the right not to call any candidate for an interview.

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux/Windows-based servers for the institute
• Handle full-stack development — front-end, backend, and database creation in .NET/PHP environments

• Mentor and work with cross-functional teams to identify, triage, and document issues
