Lok Sabha Secretariat Deputy Secretary Recruitment 2026 — 1 Post

The Lok Sabha Secretariat, the administrative body that supports the functioning of the Lok Sabha (House of the People) in the Parliament of India, is looking to fill one post of Deputy Secretary on a transfer on deputation basis. The Secretariat operates from Parliament House, New Delhi and is headed by the Secretary General. This is a prestigious posting for mid-senior level government officers.

Who Can Apply?

This post is open to serving government officers only. You can apply if you meet one of these conditions:

Category 1: Central/State Government Officers

  • Officers from Central Government or State Governments holding an analogous post (Deputy Secretary or equivalent in Level 12), OR
  • Officers holding posts in Level 11 in the Pay Matrix (Grade Pay Rs. 6,600 pre-revised) with a minimum of 5 years of regular service in the grade

Category 2: Legislature Secretariat Officers

  • Officers of State Legislature Secretariats holding an analogous post, OR
  • Officers in Level 11 with at least 5 years of experience in the grade

Salary

  • Pay Level: Level 12 in the 7th CPC Pay Matrix
  • Basic Pay Range: Rs. 78,800 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month
  • Grade Pay: Rs. 7,600 (pre-revised, PB-3: Rs. 15,600-39,100)
  • Dearness Allowance: As applicable (currently 58% of basic pay)
  • Other Allowances: HRA, Transport Allowance, and other allowances as per Central Government rules applicable to the Lok Sabha Secretariat
  • Approximate Gross Salary: Rs. 1,24,500 to Rs. 3,30,500 per month (basic + DA)

Responsibilities

  • Handle parliamentary committee work including preparation of reports, minutes, and agenda items for committee meetings
  • Assist in legislative procedures including drafting and vetting of parliamentary documents and Bills
  • Manage administrative functions of assigned branches and coordinate with other wings of the Secretariat
  • Prepare briefs, notes, and reference material for the Speaker and senior officers on parliamentary matters
  • Monitor compliance with rules of procedure and conduct of business in the House
  • Work on protocol matters related to Members of Parliament and visiting dignitaries
  • Follow up on government assurances and action taken on committee recommendations
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and establishment work of the Secretariat as assigned

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Serving government officers in Level 11/12 with 5 years experience in Legislation/Administration/Law/Finance

Preferred Qualification

Experience in parliamentary procedures, legislative drafting, or committee work preferred
