Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), an Institute of National Importance established in 2008 under the Ministry of Education, has released Advertisement No. OTH/10053/Advt0159 dated 23 March 2026. This recruitment is for 1 Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Department of Physics. The project focuses on early-stage dynamics of hot QCD matter in heavy-ion collisions with heavy quarks. Essential Qualification

- Research in the context of heavy quark transport
Salary
- Monthly Salary: Rs. 72,000 to Rs. 84,000 per month (consolidated, including HRA)
- House Rent Allowance: Rs. 11,100 per month (if applicable)
- Medical Benefits: For self, spouse, and children at par with IIT Gandhinagar faculty
- Leave: 2.5 days per month, can be accumulated up to 90 days

Responsibilities
- Conduct research on heavy quark dynamics across different stages of hot QCD matter, with emphasis on the pre-equilibrium phase
- Develop theoretical models for heavy quark transport in a realistic quark-gluon plasma
- Investigate the effects of magnetic fields, spin effects, and the QCD equation of state on heavy quark transport
- Collaborate with Prof. Vinod Chandra's group at IIT Gandhinagar and Prof. Santosh Kumar Das's group at IIT Goa
- Prepare and publish research papers in reputed international journals
- Assist in teaching and related academic activities as per institute norms
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Ph.D. in Theoretical High Energy Physics with specialization in hot QCD matter. Min 60% from Graduation, 55% in 10th & 12th.
Preferred Qualification
Strong research in finite-temperature field theory, heavy quark dynamics, kinetic theory, relativistic hydrodynamics, spin hydrodynamics, and heavy quark transport.
