The selection process is designed to test both your mental sharpness and physical fitness. It begins with a Written Examination covering general knowledge, science, history, geography, Indian Constitution, reasoning, and current affairs. Candidates who clear the written test move on to the Physical Standard Test (PST) where height, weight, and chest measurements are verified. The next stage is the Physical Endurance Test (PET) which tests your stamina through running, long jump, and shot put events. Finally, selected candidates undergo a thorough Medical Examination before final appointment.

  1. Start with Current Affairs and GK — these carry the highest weightage in the written exam. Focus on Karnataka-specific topics, national events, and basic science
  2. Practice reasoning and aptitude daily — dedicate at least one hour to logical reasoning, number series, and pattern recognition problems
  3. Build physical fitness early — begin a running routine now since the endurance test requires completing 1600m (men) or 400m (women) within prescribed time limits
