Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), a Central Armed Police Force under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has released Advertisement No. 524/RC/SSB/Combined-Advt/CT-to-SI(Non-GD)/2025 for filling up 76 paramedical posts in Group C, Non-Gazetted (Combatised) and Non-Ministerial category. This recruitment covers three distinct medical support roles across SSB units. 10% of the total vacancies are reserved for Ex-Servicemen. Who Can Apply?

Head Constable (Laboratory Assistant):

  • Education: You must have passed 12th class with Biology as a subject from a recognised Board.
  • Certificate: One-year certificate course in Laboratory Assistant from a recognised institution.
  • Experience: Minimum one year of working experience as a Lab Assistant in a Laboratory Diagnostic Centre, Hospital, or Institution Lab recognised by the Central or State Government.

Head Constable (Physiotherapy Assistant):

  • Education: You must have passed 12th class from a recognised Board.
  • Certificate: One-year certificate course in Physiotherapy from a recognised institution.
  • Experience: Relevant working experience in a recognised hospital or institution.

Constable (Nursing Assistant cum Medic):

  • Education: You must have passed 10th class from a recognised Board.
  • Certificate: First Aid certificate course from St. John's Ambulance Organisation or Red Cross Society of India.
  • Experience: Minimum one year of working experience as a Nursing Assistant in a minimum 50-bedded Hospital or Institution recognised by the Central or State Government.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 18 and 27 years old as on the closing date of application.
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years relaxation (up to 30 years)
  • SC/ST: 5 years relaxation (up to 32 years)
  • Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation as per Central Government rules

Salary

  • Head Constable (Lab Assistant & Physiotherapy Assistant): Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100 per month under Level-4 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
  • Constable (Nursing Assistant cum Medic): Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100 per month under Level-3 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
  • You will also get DA, HRA, TA, Ration Money, and other allowances as per Central Government rules.

Physical Standards

For Male Candidates:

  • Height: 165 cm (relaxation for candidates from hill areas, NE states, Garhwali, Kumaoni, Dogra, Maratha, and scheduled tribes)
  • Chest: 75 cm (unexpanded) / 80 cm (expanded)

For Female Candidates:

  • Height: 155 cm (relaxation for candidates from hill areas, NE states, and scheduled tribes)

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

For Head Constable (Lab Assistant & Physiotherapy Assistant):

  • Male: 1.6 km run in 6 minutes 30 seconds
  • Female: 800 metres run in 4 minutes

For Constable (Nursing Assistant cum Medic):

  • Male: 4.8 km run in 24 minutes
  • Female: 2.4 km run in 18 minutes

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

  1. Physical Standard Test (PST): Checking your height and chest measurements against the required standards.
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Running test as per the post-wise distance and time requirements mentioned above.
  3. Computer Based Written Examination: MCQ-type online test with negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer. For Head Constable posts, the exam has 150 questions for 150 marks in 3 hours. For Constable post, it has 100 questions for 100 marks in 2 hours.
  4. Documentation: Verification of all your original certificates, documents, and eligibility proof.
  5. Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Thorough medical check-up to ensure you meet the medical fitness standards.
  6. Review Medical Examination (RME): If you are declared unfit in DME, you can request a review medical examination.

The final merit list is prepared based on your written examination marks only.

Responsibilities

  • Assist doctors and medical officers in treating patients at SSB medical units and hospitals
  • Conduct laboratory tests, collect and process blood, urine, and tissue samples for diagnostic purposes
  • Administer first aid and basic nursing care to injured or sick SSB personnel
  • Maintain and operate medical equipment including lab instruments and physiotherapy machines
  • Keep proper records of patients, test results, medicine stocks, and medical supplies
  • Prepare and administer physiotherapy treatment plans under the supervision of medical officers
  • Follow infection control and safety protocols in all medical procedures
  • Work in shifts including night duty and emergency duty as required by the unit

Exam Pattern

The written examination is a Computer Based Test (CBT) with objective-type multiple choice questions. There are different papers for Head Constable and Constable posts.

Head Constable (Laboratory Assistant & Physiotherapy Assistant)

You will get 3 hours to answer 150 questions worth 150 marks.

  • Part I (50 marks): General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics, Analytical Aptitude, General English/Hindi
  • Part II (100 marks): Technical Subject (related to Laboratory or Physiotherapy as per the post)

Constable (Nursing Assistant cum Medic)

You will get 2 hours to answer 100 questions worth 100 marks.

  • General English/Hindi

Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Exam Language: English and Hindi
