NEC Junior Consultant (IPR) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The North Eastern Council Secretariat (NEC), working under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, is looking for one Junior Consultant in their Information and Public Relations (IPR) section. The NEC Secretariat is based in Nongrim Hills, Shillong, and plays a key role in coordinating development activities across all eight northeastern states. This is a contractual position with an initial engagement of one year that can be extended up to four more years based on your performance. If you have a background in media, journalism, or public relations and want to contribute to the development story of Northeast India, this opportunity is for you.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Bachelor's Degree in any one of these subjects: Journalism, Mass Communication, Mass Media, Public Relations, Public Administration, or Media Management from a recognized university.
• Experience: You must have at least 5 years of experience in public relations, media, or related fields. Your experience should include expertise in editing, social media management, or academic publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
• Computer Skills: You should be proficient in MS Office and digital communication tools.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Age Limit

• You should be between 25 and 45 years old as on 1 January 2026.
• SC/ST candidates: 5 years age relaxation (upper age limit becomes 50 years).
• OBC candidates: 3 years age relaxation (upper age limit becomes 48 years).

Salary

• You will get a consolidated monthly salary of Rs. 37,000 per month.
• A yearly increment of Rs. 3,000 is available if your performance is satisfactory.
• TA/DA will be paid as per Central Government Group C staff rules whenever official travel is required.
• You will get 8 days of casual leave per year. Female consultants are entitled to maternity leave as per the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

1. Skill Test: Shortlisted candidates who meet all eligibility criteria will be called for a skill test at the NEC Secretariat in Shillong.
2. Interview: After the skill test, candidates will face a personal interview. The date and time will be communicated individually to shortlisted candidates.

After selection, you will need to sign a contract with NEC as per the standard terms and conditions.

• Handle social media accounts by creating regular posts, responding to public queries, and building online engagement for NEC.
• Coordinate with media houses and journalists for coverage of NEC events and press conferences.
