The North Eastern Council Secretariat (NEC), functioning under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), Government of India, has announced recruitment for 18 Stenographer Grade-II positions on deputation basis. This is an excellent opportunity for government employees looking for a deputation posting in scenic Shillong, Meghalaya. Who Can Apply?
This recruitment is open to serving government employees only. You can apply if you meet one of the following conditions:
Option 1 - Holding Analogous Post:
- You must be an officer under the Central Government, State Government, Union Territory, or a Statutory Organisation holding an analogous post on regular basis.
Option 2 - Eight Years of Regular Service:
- You must have 8 years of regular service in a post with pay scale of Rs. 25,500 - 81,100 (Level 4) of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.
- Equivalent scales: Rs. 4,000-100-6,000 (5th CPC) or PB-1 Rs. 5,200-20,200 + Grade Pay Rs. 2,400 (6th CPC).
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.
- The total period of deputation (including any previous deputation in another ex-cadre post) shall ordinarily not exceed 3 years.
Salary
- Pay Scale: Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400 per month under Level 7 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix.
- Equivalent older scales: Rs. 5,000-150-8,000 (5th CPC) or PB-2 Rs. 9,300-34,800 + Grade Pay Rs. 4,600 (6th CPC).
- You will also receive DA, HRA, TA, and other allowances as per Central Government rules.
- Deputation terms will follow DoPT O.M. No. 6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay-II) dated 17.06.2010 and No. 2/11/2017-Estt. (Pay-II) dated 24.11.2017.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
There is no written examination for this recruitment. Selection will be based on:

Responsibilities
- Work as Personal Assistant (PA) to senior officers of NEC Secretariat
- Take shorthand dictation in English and type on the computer accurately
- Maintain Visitors' Diary, files, and DAK movement registers of the assigned Officer/Sector/Section
- Keep records of tour details of officers with whom you are attached
- Handle correspondence, letters, and official communications on behalf of senior officers
- Perform any other tasks assigned by your attached Secretary/Deputy Secretary/Director (Admn.)
- Manage scheduling, appointments, and meeting arrangements for senior officials
