NIT Silchar Project Associate-I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Institute of Technology Silchar (NIT Silchar), an Institute of National Importance, has invited applications for a temporary Project Associate-I post under a SERB-DST, Government of India sponsored project. The project is titled Induction heating via reversible disulfide bond grafted MXene for localized self-healing in thermoformable CFRP laminates. The position is for 3 years or until project completion, whichever is earlier, with extension based on performance review every 12 months.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need B.Tech/B.E., M.Tech/M.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Design and Manufacturing, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical and Polymer Engineering, Plastic Engineering, Polymer Technology, or related professional graduate/postgraduate degree.
• National Exam: Higher fellowship is for candidates selected through CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, or other national-level examinations conducted by Central Government departments and agencies such as DST, DRDO, IISc, IIT, or IISER.
• Desirable Experience: M.Tech candidates with hands-on experience in nanomaterials synthesis, CFRP, composite manufacturing, polymer technology, mechanical characterization, and fracture mechanics will be preferred.

Age Limit

• Upper age limit is up to 50 years.
• The service duration should not exceed 60 years of age.
• Age relaxation: Relaxation will be as per Government of India rules.

Salary

• Rs. 37,000 + HRA per month for candidates selected through NET/GATE or other eligible national-level selection process.
• Rs. 30,000 + HRA per month for others who do not fall under the higher fellowship category.
• HRA will be paid as applicable under project and institute rules.

Selection Process
