National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power, has released a short notice for 52 Engineering Executive Trainee (EET) posts through GATE 2025. The recruitment covers Civil and Mining disciplines for placement at NTPC project sites and offices across India. Selection is purely on GATE 2025 score — there is no separate NTPC written exam. Fresh engineering graduates with strong GATE 2025 ranks have a clear shot at a Maharatna PSU career.

Who Can Apply?

For Civil Posts:

• Qualification: Full-time regular B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc (Engineering) in Civil Engineering or Civil/Construction Engineering with minimum 65% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwBD)
• GATE Score: You must have appeared in GATE 2025 in the Civil Engineering (CE) paper

For Mining Posts:

• Qualification: Full-time regular B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc (Engineering) in Mining Engineering with minimum 65% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwBD)
• GATE Score: You must have appeared in GATE 2025 in the Mining Engineering (MN) paper

Other Requirements:

• You must be an Indian national
• Candidates appearing in the final year/semester can also apply if they expect to complete the degree by the result date

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 27 years as on 29 May 2026
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (NCL), 10 years for PwBD (General), 13 years for PwBD (OBC), 15 years for PwBD (SC/ST), and as per rules for Ex-Servicemen and J&K domicile candidates

Salary

• Pay Scale: Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 1,40,000 per month (E1 grade)
• During the one-year training, you will get a basic pay of Rs. 40,000 per month plus Industrial DA
• After successful training, you will be placed at Rs. 50,000 per month in the same pay scale with applicable allowances
• You will also get HRA, Perks, PRP, Medical Benefits, Provident Fund, Gratuity, Group Insurance and Leave Encashment as per NTPC rules
• Approximate CTC for freshers is around Rs. 16-18 lakh per annum at non-metro stations

Selection Process

Selection will be done in the following stages:

1. GATE 2025 Score Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted in the ratio of 1:5 based on GATE 2025 score in the relevant discipline
2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must produce all original certificates
3. Medical Examination: You must clear the NTPC pre-employment medical fitness test

There is no separate NTPC written test or interview — the entire selection is driven by your GATE 2025 score.

3. Fill in the online application form with personal, educational and GATE details.

• Undergo one year of intensive training at NTPC project sites and training institutes
• Assist senior engineers in design, construction and operation of thermal/hydro/renewable power projects
• Handle site-level engineering work in your discipline at NTPC plants across India
• Prepare technical drawings, reports and project documents
• Monitor safety standards and follow NTPC safety protocols at all worksites
• Participate in commissioning and maintenance activities of power generation units
• Learn NTPC systems for plant operations, mining operations, civil construction or related domains
• Take up independent project responsibilities after successful completion of training
