Sports Authority of India (SAI) Medical Officer Recruitment 2026 - 3 Posts

Sports Authority of India (SAI), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), has invited applications for the post of Medical Officer on deputation terms. SAI is responsible for training and preparing sportspersons for international competitions and runs a network of sports centres and coaching facilities across the country. This recruitment is for 3 Medical Officer positions at Pay Level-11 under the 7th Central Pay Commission. The deputation period is initially for 3 years, which can be extended up to 5 years. Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

  • MBBS from a recognised university or institution (post-internship) with 3 years of experience in a relevant field
  • OR Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Medicine (PGDSM) with 1 year of experience in a relevant field
  • OR PG/DNB in Sports Medicine, Orthopaedics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR), or an equivalent qualification

Eligibility for Deputation

  • You must be a serving officer under the Central Government, State Government, or Union Territory Administration (including attached and subordinate offices)
  • You should hold an analogous post in your parent cadre or department
  • OR you should have at least 5 years of regular service in Pay Level-10 (Rs. 56,100-1,77,500) or the equivalent pre-revised Pay Band-3 (Rs. 15,600-39,100 + Grade Pay Rs. 5,400)

Age Limit

  • Your age should not exceed 56 years as on the opening date of receipt of application.
  • Deputation rules as per DoPT OM No. 06/08/2009-Estt (Pay-II) dated 17/06/2010 apply.

Salary

  • Pay Level-11: Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month (7th CPC)
  • Pre-revised: PB-3 (Rs. 15,600-39,100) + Grade Pay Rs. 6,600
  • Plus DA, HRA, Transport Allowance, and other benefits as per Central Government rules

Selection Process

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care and treatment to athletes at SAI training centres and during national camps
  • Conduct comprehensive health check-ups and fitness assessments for sportspersons
  • Manage sports injuries, provide rehabilitation plans, and oversee recovery of athletes
  • Coordinate with physiotherapists, sports scientists, and coaches on athlete health management
  • Monitor compliance with anti-doping regulations and NADA/WADA guidelines
  • Prepare medical fitness certificates and health reports for athletes going to competitions
  • Travel with sports teams for national and international tournaments as the team doctor
  • Maintain medical records and submit periodic health reports to the SAI administration

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

MBBS with 3 years experience, or PGDSM with 1 year experience, or PG/DNB in Sports Medicine/Orthopaedics/PMR

Preferred Qualification

PG/DNB in Sports Medicine, Orthopaedics, or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Required Skills

Sports medicine expertise, athlete healthcare, anti-doping compliance awareness

MBBS holders need minimum 3 years post-internship experience in relevant field. PGDSM holders need minimum 1 year experience. PG/DNB holders in Sports Medicine/Orthopaedics/PMR have no additional experience requirement.
