Spices Board Clerical Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Spices Board (Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India) is looking for a retired government employee to work as a Clerical Assistant on a contractual basis at its Chennai Regional Office. The contract runs for up to 2 years or until you turn 65, whichever comes first. This is specifically for retired Central or State Government employees, PSU staff, or Commodity Board retirees who have hands-on experience in clerical work. If you have good computer skills and strong communication abilities, this could be the right post-retirement opportunity for you.

Who Can Apply?

  • Service Background: You must be a retired employee from Central or State Government Departments, PSUs, Autonomous Bodies, or preferably Commodity Boards with significant experience in clerical duties.
  • Qualification: You need a Degree from a recognised University or Institution.
  • Computer Skills: You should know how to use MS Office or Open Office, Email, and Internet.
  • Communication: Good interpersonal and communication skills are expected.
  • Previous Engagement: If you have already worked on contract at Spices Board before (whether you completed your tenure or not), you are not eligible to apply again.

Age Limit

  • You must be below 64 years of age as on the date of the notification (12 March 2026).
  • The engagement continues up to a maximum age of 65 years or for 2 years, whichever is earlier.

Salary

  • You will receive a fixed salary of Rs. 25,000 per month (consolidated).
  • No additional allowances will be paid. This means no DA, HRA, TA, accommodation, CGHS, or medical reimbursement.
  • You can continue to draw your pension and dearness relief during the engagement. However, the total of your monthly salary plus pension cannot exceed your Last Pay Drawn (calculated with current DA rates).
  • TDS will be deducted as applicable from your monthly pay.

Selection Process

Selection is done in 1 stage:

  1. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. A panel of qualifying candidates will be formed, and appointments will be made from this panel as per the Board's requirements. The panel remains valid for 2 years.

Note: No TA/DA will be given for attending the interview. The date and venue of the interview will be published on the Spices Board website.

Responsibilities

  • Handle day-to-day clerical and office administration tasks at the Regional Office in Chennai
  • Prepare correspondence, notes, and official documents using MS Office or Open Office
  • Manage filing, record-keeping, and document maintenance for the office
  • Assist senior officers with routine office procedures and data compilation
  • Handle email communication and respond to enquiries as directed
  • Work on time-bound tasks and coordinate with the head office in Kochi as needed
  • Follow official working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, including Saturdays if required

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Degree from a recognised University/Institution

Preferred Qualification

Experience in Commodity Boards preferred
