UPSC Assistant Halwai-cum-Cook Recruitment 2026 — 2 Posts

UPSC has released Vacancy Circular No. A-35020/01/2023-Admn.II dated 16.02.2026 to fill 2 vacancies of Assistant Halwai-cum-Cook in its office canteen. This is a deputation opportunity for Central Government employees who are currently working in similar roles. The deputation period is initially 3 years or until further orders. Who Can Apply?

Service Conditions (any one)

• Holding analogous posts on regular basis in the parent cadre or department, OR
• Having at least 3 years' regular service in Level 1 of the Pay Matrix (Rs. 18,000-56,900)

Educational Qualification

• 10th Class pass from a recognized board
• Certificate or Diploma in Catering
• 1 year experience as a helper to Halwai-cum-Cook
• Must qualify a trade skill test for cooking, including maintenance of hygiene

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications
• No minimum age specified (must be a serving Central Government employee)

Salary

• Pay Level: Level 2 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix
• Pay range: Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 per month (basic pay)
• Grade Pay: Rs. 1,900 (pre-revised)
• Approximate gross salary: Rs. 34,000 to Rs. 37,000 per month (including DA, HRA, and Transport Allowance, depending on city classification)
• Pay regulation as per Dept. of Personnel & Training O.M. No. 6/8/2009-Estt.(Pay-II) dated 17/06/2010

• Assist the Halwai-cum-Cook in preparing various snacks and beverages such as bonda, butter-toast, dosa, idly, vada, paneer pakoda, samosa, matthi, vegetable cutlet, and vegetable sandwich/pakoda
• Assist in preparation of lunch and meals including chapatti, curd, dal, puri, raita, rice, sabzi, sambar, soup, sweet-dish, and vegetable salad
• Prepare snacks and meals independently in the absence of the Halwai-cum-Cook
• Follow hygiene and cleanliness standards in the canteen kitchen at all times
• Handle kitchen equipment and utensils safely and maintain them in working condition
• Manage ingredient inventory and assist in daily stock-keeping of food supplies
• Work on any additional duties assigned by the in-charge of the Canteen
