UPSC Motor Transport Supervisor Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), India's constitutional body responsible for conducting examinations and making appointments to central services, has issued Vacancy Circular No. A-35021/12/2019-Admn.II dated 02.03.2026 to fill one anticipated post of Motor Transport Supervisor. This post is offered on deputation or absorption basis for eligible officers serving under the Central Government. The selected officer will be posted at UPSC headquarters in Dholpur House, New Delhi, and will manage the Commission's motor transport operations including vehicle deployment, maintenance oversight, and driver supervision.

Who Can Apply?

This vacancy is open only to officers currently serving under the Central Government. You need to meet both service conditions and experience requirements.

Service Conditions (any one of the following):

• You hold an analogous post on regular basis in your parent cadre or department, OR
• You have 6 years of regular service in Level-5 (or equivalent) in your parent cadre or department, OR
• You have 10 years of regular service in Level-4 (or equivalent) in your parent cadre or department

Experience and License (mandatory for all):

• Experience: 7 years of experience in motor transport work covering use, care, custody, repair and maintenance of vehicles under the Central Government
• Driving License: You must hold a valid driving license for motor cars

Desirable Qualification:

• Motor Mechanic Certificate from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI)

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications (28 May 2026)
• No minimum age specified — this is a deputation post for serving officers

Salary

• Pay Matrix Level: Level-6 under 7th Central Pay Commission
• Pay Range: Rs 35,400 to Rs 1,12,400 per month
• Plus Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA) and other benefits as per Central Government rules
• Pay regulation as per DoP&T O.M. No.6/8/2009-Estt.(Pay-II) dated 17/06/2010 as amended

Selection Process

This is a deputation or absorption post. There is no written exam or interview for selection.

1. Application Screening: Applications received through proper channel will be screened for eligibility based on service conditions and experience
2. Document Verification: ACRs, integrity certificate, vigilance clearance, and penalty records will be reviewed
3. Selection on Merit: Final selection will be based on suitability of the candidate considering service record and experience

The deputation period, including any prior deputation in another ex-cadre post, shall ordinarily not exceed 3 years.

• Deploy drivers and vehicles for the duty of Chairman, Members, Senior Officers and staff of the Commission
• Arrange and supervise vehicles for Commission requirements such as Examinations, Advisors, Workshops, Conferences, Dak/Dispatch and General Duty
• Inspect vehicles regularly and give directions to drivers regarding cleanliness and minor maintenance
• Oversee maintenance of vehicle logbooks and conduct inspections from time to time
• Coordinate vehicle refuelling at authorized petrol pumps and arrange servicing, maintenance and repairs with workshops
• Undertake test drives after vehicle repairs, ensure old parts are deposited back, and obtain satisfactory certificates from drivers
• Keep drivers informed about traffic rules and traffic advisories
• Handle matters arising out of vehicle mishaps including site visits and reporting to the Controlling Officer
• Assist the Controlling Officer of Staff Car Unit in day-to-day administration, operations and control
